On June 18, 2011, a sudden transformation of the Huanshan City skyline in China above the Xin’an River was seen from the vantage point of a bridge viewpoint.  Upon a river scene which depicts no buildings but just river scenic views, was now transformed after a heavy rain in which a whole cityscape of building, skyscrapers, and a castle-like building on its own private island, opened up a new spectrum of ‘time of the end’ speculations.

As witnessed by Chinese residents, the views were interesting, beautiful or spectacular but not necessarily frightening. So the question arises, what is going on and who is creating these images.

In watching these images unfold, it truly does open up questions of the anticipated era in the future in which the Jewish anti-Messiah, or the Christian Antichrist will be revealed.  Then we are forced to consider the foundational matrix of New-Age religion in which the future Universal World Order will gain its success in “causing the whole world to follow after the (sea) beast”.

World-wide speculative comments have been enlightening and revealing for many have tagged the Black Ops project called “Project Blue Beam” to be the technology in which it will be so easy to deceive “the very elect”. As describe in “Before its News”:

Before its News - "The infamous NASA Blue Beam Project has four different steps in order to implement the New Age Religion with the Antichrist at its head.  We must remember with the New Age Religion is the very foundation for the New World Government, without which religion the dictatorship of the New World Order is impossible. I'll repeat that: Without a universal belief in the New Age Religion, the success of the New World Order will be impossible!  That is why the Blue Beam Project is so important to them, but has been so well hidden until now.  

The first step concerns the breakdown of all archeological knowledge. It deals with the setup with artificially created earthquakes at certain precise locations on the planet where, supposedly, new discoveries wil finally explain to all people the errors of all fundamental religous doctrines. The doctrines have been misunderstood for centuries and misinterpreted.

Psychological preparations for that first step have already been implemented with the film, "2001: A Space Odyssey", the "Star-Trek series, and "Star Wars"; all of which deal with invasions from space and the coming together of all nations to repel the invaders. The last films, "Jurassic Park", deals with the theories of evolution, and claim God's words are lies.

What is important to understand in the firest step is that these earthquakes will hit at different parts of the world where scientific and archeological teachings have indicated that arcane mysteries have been buried. By those types of earthquakes, it will be possible for scientists to re-discover those mysteries which will be used to discredit all fundamental religious doctrines. This is the first preparation for the plan for humanity because what they want to do is destroy the beliefs of all Christians and Muslims on the planet. To do that, they need some false "proof" from the far past that will prove to all nations that their religions have all been misinterpreted and misunderstood.

The second step involves a gigantic "space show" with three-dimensional optical holograms and sounds, laser projection of multiple holographic images to different part of the world, each receiving a different image according to predominating regional national religious faith. This new "god's" voice will be speaking in all languages. In order to understand that, we must study various secret services' research done in the last 25 years.

The Soviet's have perfected an advance computer, even exported them, and fed them with the minute physio-psycological particulars based on their studies of the anatomy and electro-mechanical composition of the human body, and the studies of the electrical, chemical and biological properties of the human brain.

These computers were fed, as well, with the languages of all human cultures and their meanings. The dialects of all cultures have been fed into the comupters from satellite transmissions. The Soviets began to feed the computers with objective programs like the ones of the New Messiah. It also seems that the Soviets - the New World Order people - have resorted to suicidal methods with the human society by allocating electronic wavelengths for every person and every society and culture to induce suicidal thoughts if the person doesn't comply with the dictates of the New World Order."

Yet the mirage imagery in China is not a new phenomenon.  To thousands of Chinese spectators, on off the eastern coastline of China in Penglai, on the tip of the Shandong Province on May 7, 2006, a similar mirage took place during atmospheric conditions in which experts explained that then moisture in the air becomes warmer than thesea water, refracted rays of sunlight will create reflections in the sky of landscapes.

The future appears to be one in which reality and non-reality will blend into one.  Only those with a firm foundation of the Hebrew prophets of old will find many deceptions sweeping our future prophetic landscape.

NASA confesses to the Existence of a “Giant Stealth Planet”

 
Is our Sun’s Solar System about to Expect a “Pass-Over” Flyby with its Twin Companion, a Dark Red Binary Star? 

In the early 1980's, articles attesting to the new a new “heavenly body” appeared in major newspapers, including both the New York Times and the Washington Post.  The Washington Post published the following article on December 31, 1983 with the following title, “Mystery Heavenly Body Discovered” and gave to us the following facts:

The Washington Post - “A heavenly body possibly as large as the giant planet Jupiter and possibly so close to Earth that it would be part of this solar system has been found in the direction of the constellation Orion by an orbiting telescope aboard the U.S. infrared astronomical satellite. So mysterious is the object that astronomers do not know if it is a planet, a giant comet, a nearby "protostar" that never got hot enough to become a star, a distant galaxy so young that it is still in the process of forming its first stars or a galaxy so shrouded in dust that none of the light cast by its stars ever gets through. "All I can tell you is that we don't know what it is," Dr. Gerry Neugebauer, IRAS chief scientist for California's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and director of the Palomar Observatory for the California Institute of Technology said in an interview.

Dr. Gerry Neugebauer - “The most fascinating explanation of this mystery body, which is so cold it casts no light and has never been seen by optical telescopes on Earth or in space, is that it is a giant gaseous planet, as large as Jupiter and as close to Earth as 50 billion miles. While that may seem like a great distance in earthbound terms, it is a stone's throw in cosmological terms, so close in fact that it would be the nearest heavenly body to Earth beyond the outermost planet Pluto. "If it is really that close, it would be a part of our solar system," said Dr. James Houck of Cornell University's Center for Radio Physics and Space Research and a member of the IRAS science team. "If it is that close, I don't know how the world's planetary scientists would even begin to classify it."

The mystery body was seen twice by the infrared satellite as it scanned the northern sky from last January to November, when the satellite ran out of the supercold helium that allowed its telescope to see the coldest bodies in the heavens. The second observation took place six months after the first and suggested the mystery body had not moved from its spot in the sky near the western edge of the constellation Orion in that time. "This suggests it's not a comet because a comet would not be as large as the one we've observed and a comet would probably have moved," Houck said. "A planet may have moved if it were as close as 50 billion miles but it could still be a more distant planet and not have moved in six months time.

Whatever it is, Houck said, the mystery body is so cold its temperature is no more than 40 degrees above "absolute" zero, which is 459 degrees Fahrenheit below zero. The telescope aboard IRAS is cooled so low and is so sensitive it can "see" objects in the heavens that are only 20 degrees above absolute zero. When IRAS scientists first saw the mystery body and calculated that it could be as close as 50 billion miles, there was some speculation that it might be moving toward Earth. "It's not incoming mail," Cal Tech's Neugebauer said. "I want to douse that idea with as much cold water as I can."

With the existence of a potential solar body heading towards earth made NASA and the astronomical scientists in 1983 so uncomfortable that they quickly had to denounce that it had any potential of heading to Planet Earth. The news about this incoming companion star suddenly went dead. 

Now 28 years later, one would think the world has suddenly turned apocalyptic when they suddenly made a second announcement that “Our Sun may have a companion. A companion to our Sun cannot be interpreted to be another planet in our solar system. It can only be interpreted to be a “companion sun” with its own planets in which its massive geo-magnetic force field will attract to encircle it and become a part of its own solar system.

When it becomes imperative that the global powers cannot hide the evidence that global earth changes and mega-catastrophes are soon to arrive upon our earth, then they suddenly become defensive. But why?  The first would be that maybe all the cosmic changes in our global weather are because of the effects of a stellar magnetic force field and not human derived “global warming”.  Also, they would have to admit that “incoming mail” by a “companion sun” with its own solar system and planets means sudden catastrophes that may threaten to annihilate our own Planet Earth.  

NASA finally made the first nudge on December 1, 2010, and the transparency of the agency increased just a bit, when Space.com made this announcement, “Giant Stealth Planet may Explain Rain of Comets from Solar System’s Edge”; 

Space.com - “Our Sun may have a companion that disturbs comets from the edge of the solar system — a giant planet with up to four times the mass of Jupiter, researchers suggest. A NASA space telescope launched last year may soon detect such a stealth companion to our sun, if it actually exists, in the distant icy realm of the comet-birthing Oort cloud, which surrounds our solar system with billions of icy objects."

Did we hear this right, that our Sun with our Solar System may also have a “companion star” and its own solar system?  That is exactly what they said, yet, they also quietly put in a disinformation clause that this “companion star” would be so far away that its affect upon Planet Earth was not worth debating. 

Space.com - “The potential jumbo Jupiter would likely be a world so frigid it is difficult to spot, researchers said. It could be found up to 30,000 astronomical units from the sun. One AU is the distance between the Earth and the sun, about 93 million miles (150 million km)."

After making this revelation, NASA threw doubt, and began to destroy the evidence. They first threw doubt on even the star’s existence. In the same breath, they threw out a lot of theories, carefully debunking a few of them, making confusing innuendos on others, and hopefully silencing the entire debate; was Planet X, Nibiru truly real or even potentially a Twin Red (slightly luminous) or Brown (cold, dark, non-luminous) star.  Why should they care? Would it not be an exciting new discovery?

NASA and the Astronomical professionals live on “scientific speculation” in their theoretical journey into the starry worlds beyond. The premise on each new discovery in outer space is based upon scientific facts, upon which they premise new scientific realities; that is assuming their data is correct. This is the way how scientific evidence creates new realities.  Is this is called “evidence based” science? Does it give us the evidence or only the evidence upon which they might want us to know about?  We have to admit, upon these scientific premises NASA has learned an immense amount about our universe, assuming their premises and assumptions are correct.  Are they willing to give the G-d of the Universes credit for their creation?     

Today, NASA is governed by an atheistic mental paradigm that we live in an evolutionary uniformitarian world that takes millions or billions of years to create. They even state that it will take eons to even upturn life and existence on Planet Earth and to start new life or existence over again. To destroy these paradigms of international scientific inquiry may also destroy the allegiance of the world governments; NASA’s primary funders.  If that were to happen, then a large part of the scientific community’s quest for world domination into the natural and astronomical sciences will go into upheaval as their own existence will be threatened.  

For the world to be destroyed by a “star and its solar system” also destroys the meaning of their“god of Science”.   It is important that we look closely at the reason this article is so important, for doing so, we seek to understand the paradigm of NASA and modern science’s understanding of universal science. 

• NASA proposed that this “hidden star” which they call “Nemesis” has already been explored at length by the “conspiracy theorists” who by definition are always wrong and that this solar body was a red dwarf or brown dwarf star.  NASA then first proposed that this star “regularly enters the Oort Cloud” yet does not give any empirical evidence,  Also, they never concede whether this giant solar body might just go through the Oort Cloud in route back to rendesvoux with our Sun’s solar system, including Planet Earth. 
• This theory of “Nemesis” in the Oort Cloud makes it the causal factor for “spitting out” comets and asteroids, yet, they then confess that it does not explain the geological questions or even match the dating of mass extinctions on Earth occurring millions of years ago in geological time. To them, then, this Planet X does not exist because “Nemesis’…orbit could not be nearly as stable as claimed therefore, debunking the Planet X/Nebiru Sumerian cosmos theory as the Planet X/Nibiru Noachian Flood model or the Planet X/Nibiru Exodus Flood model.
• Rather than a “star” as a Jupiter-monster sized up 4 times Stellar body, two astrophysicists John Matese and Daniel Whitmire at the University at New Orleans at Lafayette suggested rather that a smaller version, they dubbed “Tyche”, or the good sister of the goddess Nemesis in Greek mythology could be a better causal link, while;  
• The larger 4 x Jupiter-size “Nemesis Red Dwarf Star” coming back for a by-pass around our solar system would, to them be a “surprise”.
• Yet, they did have to admit that most solar systems like our “Sun” — so-called class G stars — possess companions” or “twin stars” yet also like our Sun, “only one-third are single-star systems like (they suspect) our solar system.”
• Unfortunately, NASA's Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) space telescope threw a glitch and ran out of frozen hydrogen that kept its infrared detectors as cold as designed.  WISE, now working with only two of the four infrared detectors, was almost abandoned by NASA as they sought to finish “Mapping the Entire Sky” that WISE was attempting to accomplish.  Now WISE is now spending the remainder of its few month lifespan, using the two remaining infrared detectors looking for in-coming asteroids. 
• They suggest that this planet may truly not exist, or that the “dark cold star” may not ever be seen, until it is too late for humans to protect themselves from its catastrophic effect. They still confess that there may be apocalyptic “signs at the time of the end” with increases in earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, and tsunamis around the world? 

Why do the astronomical scientists take such care to hide the evidence of their work, especially when they are funded by American tax dollars?  Is it because they might be required to acknowledge the existence of G-d, and that there was a Creation by Divine Intent?  Are they afraid to acknowledge that the G-d of the Universes can bring His own judgments upon Earth, upturn our planet’s entire existence, and in the case of the prophetic reality of the Hebrew prophets, that the “Judgments of G-d will come from the heavens, with planets, comets, asteroids or even a “Twin Star” as His emissary of divine justice.

The prophetic intent is today so loud and clear that they foretold that in another catastrophic era, far into their future, the Lost Tribes of the House of Israel, who was once exiled, twenty-seven hundred years later would be returned as promised by the G-d of Israel.  Upon the “honor of His Holy Name”, the descendants of the Northern Tribes who formed their own Kingdom of Northern Israel in defiance to the G-d of Israel would now be reclaimed, redeemed, and restored into fellowship and reunion with their cousins, the Jews of the House of Judah. They also would return and dwell in the lands of the forefathers and be re-united as one with their cousins the Jews, and for eternity be known as “All Israel”.

Professor Stanley Fischer, Governor of the Bank of Israel nominated as the Central Bank Governor of the Year 2010 Award: By Steven Scheer and Ari Rabinovitch

The Governor of the Bank of Israel, Professor Stanley Fischer has recently been in international news as the honoree of numerous distinctive international honor. Euromoney magazine gave the prestigious annual award at the World Bank and International Monetary Fund annual meeting on Sunday, October 11, 2010. This year the “Central Bank Governor of the Year of 2010” nominated as the world’s best of the bank governors and finance ministers went to the Israeli National Bank Governor, Professor Stanley Fischer. 

He was honored for the distinction of successfully guiding the economy of the State of Israel through the global crisis. As the magazine stated, “Israel's stamina in a time of financial crisis and its aftermath prove that Fischer is worthy of the respect he gets from the financial community,"

As a native of the Nation of Rhodesia, Fischer rose to the eminence as a professor at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) from 1977 t0 1988 and later as vice president of development economics and chief economist at the World Bank from 1988 to 1990. In 2005, he accepted the position as Chief of Israel’s central bank. In a world in which even the Nation of Israel is an amalgamation of secular and religious Jews, even the banking governor came under scrutiny by his own people for accepting to give a speech at the International Monetary Fund convention in Washington DC, on the Seventh-day Shabbat (Sabbath) of the Jewish people.

As reported in Israel National News (Arutz Sheva) - This fact brought forth Jewish criticism from David Vazana, the head of the Union of Bank of Israel Employees, when his quotes were publicized on Arutz Sheva:

Israel National News – “Professor Stanley Fischer has recently received a series of important honors abroad, culminating with his being named the best central bank governor in the world for 2010 by an important publication. However, he appears to have slipped up Saturday when he gave a speech at the International Monetary Fund convention in Washington, DC, despite the Jewish Sabbath – and he is getting flak over it in Israel.  

David Vazana, head of the Union of Bank of Israel Employees, said the Sabbath speech was a “very grave” matter. He explained: “It is too bad that such a thing was done in front of the nations of the world, who know and revere the Torah of Israel, of Moses, and all of whom respect Judaism – while this makes it appear that we the Jews, ourselves, do not respect the Torah.”

Vazana said that he has great respect for the fact that Fischer left a very successful career abroad and came to Israel, in what he termed “a great act of sanctifying G-d's name.” But the speech on Sabbath is the opposite of that, he said. It is, rather, a desecration of G-d's Name.

“I expect that he [will] issue an immediate apology as previous governors did when they made mistakes like issuing a statement [on the Sabbath],” Vazana told Arutz Sheva's Hebrew language news. “I have been working in the Bank of Israel for 23 years but I have never seen such a public desecration of G-d's Name,” he stressed.”

Later it was reported the chairman of the Knesset’s Finance Committee, MK Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism), actually canceled a meeting with Fischer the next day in protest of the Sabbath speech. Little by little we are beginning to see a transformation in Jewish Israeli society.  As the Eternal One of Israel is calling the Lost Tribes of the House of Israel home, He is also wooing His emancipated and assimilated Jews living in the Diaspora also back home. He wants His people to be a spiritual and a guiding light to all nations. They are not to be just distinctive, but He expects them to be “holy”.

On September 2, 2010, Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas entered into secret conference in Washington and the White House to be negotiation for the “Final Status” of a Palestinian State. On that same day, in a news brief just before the negotiations began, Aaron Klein in the article titled, “Israel concedes Jerusalem before negotiations even begin", reported;

 

Aaron Klein - "JERUSALEM – Ahead of the start of today's Mideast summit in Washington, the Israeli government publicly conceded sections of Jerusalem will become part of a Palestinian state while holy sites would be governed by a 'special regime'.

 

Defense Minister Ehud Barak outlined a deal with the Palestinians; ‘West Jerusalem and 12 Jewish neighborhoods that are home to 200,000 residents will be ours. The Arab neighborhoods in which close to a quarter million Palestinians live will be theirs'."

 

Cutting Edge Ministries, in News brief on the same day also commented with these “bombshell” remarks;

Little recognized four months earlier at the 62^nd anniversary of the Israeli “Independence”, Prime Minister Netanyahu personally sent thanks to the Rothschild’s Yad Hanadiy Foundation for giving 100 million shekels towards building a National Library in Jerusalem.  Funded and by the philanthropic arm of the International Rothschild Banking Dynasty headed by Lord Jacob Rothschild, this high-tech library will house, protect and restore all the remaining documents in Hebrew and Yiddish, the national patriotic documents and photographs of the Israeli founding fathers, the pioneering settlers and an archive of videos to be kept for posterity. 

 

These archives have become the cornerstone of the Yad Hanadiy and the Israeli-funded Jewish Heritage Foundation Project that almost created a new Third Islamic intifada when in February 2010, Prince Minister Netanyahu announced the creation of Two Heritage Land Trails, taking tourists through the Biblical Heartland of Shomron (Samaria) and Judea where the Biblical Patriarchs lived and worshipped the G-d of Israel.

All in all there were 37 archeological sites as candidates for upgrade to continuous tourist attractions to add to those that are already popular tourist sites; Caesarea National Park and Mount Masada.

 

Other sites were to be scheduled for important restoration and repair such as; Tel Lachish plus the ancient synagogue near Sde Amudim, the Golani Junction near the Galilee city of Tiberias. There were other sites that would be included on the historical trail that included; Neot Kedumim, Susia, Qumran, Beit Shea’am, Tel Meggido, Tiberias, Tel Arad, Tel Dan, plus the famous archeological restoration at the site of King David’s Palace in the City of David and the newly restored Solomonic Walls in Jerusalem. All in all, over 109 historical projects were on the drawing board for restoration.”

 

The historical program for at least 39 separate locations would include a documentation center overseeing the national site’s archives plus a conference center and training facility that would train Israelis on the science and art of document preservation and historical artifact collections at various heritage sites that would include, Independence Hall in Tel Aviv, the historic Jezreel Valley railway, and the famous Dead Sea town of Ein Gedi.  Through all of these sites would be the building of a collection of Jewish movie archives in honor of the renowned American-Jewish movie director, Steven Spielberg. 

 

With considerable pressure of the Orthodox Jewish interests in Israel, the State of Israel a few days later went on to include the Cave of the Patriarchs (Cave of Machpelah), reputed to be the traditional burial sites of Abraham and his wife, Sara, plus his son, Isaac and daughter in law, Rebekah and grandson Jacob with his wife Leah. Also with renowned Machpelah site, the Tomb of Rebecca, the favorite wife of the Patriarch Jacob located on the outskirts of Bethlehem and the Tomb of Joseph also received the heritage status by Netanyahu’s government as they were located in currently Palestinian controlled areas of Samaria and Judea. 

 

The Rothschild donated Israeli Knesset Building

 

The heritage sites of the Jewish Zionist’s Heritage Foundation will be relived in the restoration of the patriotic landmarks of the beginnings of the Zionist State of Israel.  These sites were put under the control of the Zionist State of Israel whose parliament building called the Knesset along with the Israeli Supreme Court, both built upon Masonic architectural designs and also the beginning of the Israeli Museum that were financed by the largess of the Rothschild’s Yad Hanadiv Foundation. 

 

Other heritage sites built included the restoration of the building on Rothschild Boulevard where President David Ben-Gurion proclaimed Israel a Jewish state.  Also in the Northern region of Galilee at El Hai, the Russian decorated warrior of the Russo-Japanese War, Zionist leader Joseph Trumpeldor immigrated to Israel seeking to lay a pathway for other Russian émigrés to follow.  He was a close friend and accomplice with Ze’ev Jabotinsky, and founder of the Zion Mule Corps, where he organized a Jewish legion of Jewish resistant fighters that served with distinction alongside the British forces in the ill fated Battle of Gallipoli against the Ottoman Turks. 

 

Trumpeldor later was laid to rest after defending a Northern Galilee border town of Jewish farmers against an Arab uprising, rather than retreat under fire. His legend has been immortalized by Jabotinsky’s New Revisionist Party called the Alliance of Revisionists-Zionists whose youth movement was called Betar, a Hebrew acronym for the “League of Joseph Trumpeldor” and today Trumpeldor is a “Patriot” to the young pioneering settler’s movement in Shomron and Judea.

 

With all the largess of the Rothschilds, we may soon see their “Crown Jewel” erected on the Temple Mount; the Third Jewish Temple. This temple will come under the control of the Rothschild guided Jesuit Illuminati where the control of the most famous and disputed piece of property in the world, called the “The Old City and the Temple Mount” will be given to a “special regime”.

 

Is it any wonder why the President of Israel Shimon Peres was flying over to the Vatican to meet with Pope Benedict XIV simultaneously while President Barak Obama plus Netanyahu and Abbas were ensconced in secret deliberations?

The Los Lomas Decalogue Inscription discovered in “Mystery Mountain” near Los Lomas, New Mexico

 

HaRav Ariel Bar Tzadok – “In 1650, Rabbi Menashe Ben Israel, Chief Rabbi of Amsterdam recorded an incredible story in his book Mikveh Yisrael. He relates a conversation that he had with a Jewish Dutch explorer of the Americas. The explorer related how he made contact with the Native Americans but after trying to communicate with them in every possible European language, he had no success. Being a Jew, as was his first mate, these two began to talk amongst themselves in Hebrew. To his utter amazement, upon hearing him speak Hebrew to his first mate, the Native American chief responded in kind and stated, “Shema Yisrael.”

 

This is only one of the very numerous instances that seem not only to suggest, but to actually prove that indeed, somehow, in some way, a number of Biblical Israelites managed to leave the Holy Land, over two thousand years ago and by the Hand of G-d found their way to the shores of what today we call the Americas. It was known in Talmudic times that the world was indeed round and some Sages suggest that there are hints to the existence of what today we call the Americas in some of the oldest Rabbinic literature.

Archeological evidence to establish this claim is rather significant and wide spread. There are numerous archeological artifacts that have been found throughout the Americas, specifically here in the United States that are clearly thousands of years old and written in either Biblical Hebrew or later block (modern) Hebrew script. These include full inscriptions of the Ten Commandments, etched in stone and written in Ktav Ivrit (original pre-Babylonian Biblical Hebrew script). There is even one claim made that an ancient pair of Tefillin have actually been found buried in an Indian burial ground.

 

In 1775, Englishman James Adair, after living with Native Americans for 40 years, recorded his experiences and published a book about them in London entitled, “The History of the American Indians.” Almost his entire work is dedicated to document and prove that the Native American tribes of the central and southern territories, soon to become the U.S.A. were definitively of Jewish origins and to his day maintained a sizable amount of their ancient Israelite heritage. Many scholars now believe that it contains the Ten Commandments, including 3 instances of the Tetragrammaton, inscribed in old Hebrew letters.

 

However, conventional history teaches that the Americas were discovered by the Europeans either in 1492 by Columbus, or maybe a few hundred years earlier by the Vikings. “Cupid Cameo” highlights 2010 Archeological Discoveries Revealed in 11th Annual City of David Archaeology Conference

The 11^th Annual City of David Archaeology Conference took place this week on Wednesday September 1^st at 6:30 pm at the City of David. Finds from the past year of excavations will be presented at the conference including;

 

· The massive fortification next to the Gihon Spring, a very large building dating to Roman times in the Givati Parking Lot Excavation, and

 

· A 2,000 year old semi-precious cameo bearing the image of Cupid (Eros in Greek Mythology), which apparently came from a piece of jewelry.

 

The cameo, which is 1 cm in length and 0.7 mm in width was discovered in the Givati Parking Lot Excavation which is part of the Jerusalem Walls National Park. The excavation is being conducted by the Israel Antiquities Authority under the direction of Dr. Doron Ben Ami and Yana Tchekhanovets of the Israel Antiquities Authority, and funded by the Ir David Foundation.

According to Dr. Doron Ben Ami of the Israel Antiquities Authority, who will present recent discoveries from the Givati Excavation under his supervision, “the cameo is made from two layers of semi-precious onyx stone. The upper layer, into which the image of cupid is engraved is a striking blue color which contrasts with the dark brown background color of the lower layer.

 

The brown layer is the side of the cameo which would have been inserted into the round metal setting of a piece of jewelry, apparently an earring. The cupid’s left hand is resting on an upside-down torch which symbolizes the cessation of life. The feathers of his wings are hinted at by a number of grooves, his face is full and round, and his hair is curly.”

According to Dr. Ben Ami, “this discovery, together with other important finds that we uncovered from this unusual large Roman structure at the City of David, contribute significantly to our understanding of the nature of Jerusalem’s Roman Period.”

 

This inlaid stone is of the "Eros in mourning" type, and is one of a group of visual motifs connected with the imagery of mourning practices. Jewelry bearing such motifs – earrings and rings, were not necessarily worn only in mourning rites, rather, they also served as memento mori, reminders of the fleeting nature of life.
