The South Africa “Agulhas” Whirlpool - Visions of the Future Pole Shift

The Agulhas Current that rushes past Cape Agulhas on the tip of South Africa is considered the strongest oceanic current in the entire world. For those students of the ancient Hebrew prophecies concerning the “Time of the End”, one of the considerations are the tectonic plates shifts that will occur as Planet Earth goes through the midst of a Magnetic and later a Geographic Pole Shift as the G-d of Israel is remodeling Planet Earth to prepare it for the Messianic Kingdom of the Maschiah ben Dovid (Messiah son of David).

In these regions with strong oceanic currents during the days of a Pole Shift, the water will be sloshing in giant waves as Planet Earth is rocking back and forth.  With it will carry a new phenomenon; Giant Whirlpools.  Even the Prophet Isaiah the Seer and Counselor of the Southern Nation of Judah, spoke eloquently on this topic Catastrophic Changes on Earth during the last days, with these words:

Isaiah 24:20 – “The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard (swinging back and forth as Planet Earth comes under the influence of an Exploding Sun with immense X-rated Solar Flare Bursts or under the influence of the Electromagnetic field of the incoming Nibiru, our Solar System’s Dark Twin Star and Twin Solar System); and shall totter like a hut.” 

Isaiah 14:23 – “I will sweep it (Planet Earth) with the broom of destruction. (Nibiru or the Tail of a Comet or Asteroid with its destructive forces as Hail, Ice Bolides, Fire Bolides and Pestilence sweep regions of the earth with massive destruction).”

Isaiah 34:4– “All the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll” (The Universe is described by Astronomers as being flat and rolled out in an Arc like a Scroll.) 

Isaiah 24:19 – “The earth is:

• The earth is violently broken (violent rocking back and forth in its orbital pathway will produce catastrophic changes to the crust of the earth),
• The earth is split open (the mid-Atlantic ridge in the center of the Atlantic Ocean is evidence of a major rift of tearing of the earth’s crust. A smaller but equally dramatic is the Great Rift Valley which traverses from the Dead Sea (the former Vale of Siddon) all the way to the lower part of the continent of Africa),
• The earth is shaken exceedingly. (The earth is a magnetized floating ball rotating in orbit around the sun. Subject this earth to a close flyby of another planet such as of our Sun’s Twin Binary Red Star that is also laden with an iron laden crust. Both stellar bodies will weave, rock, roll and twist like two floating magnets near each other.)” 

Isaiah 24:18 – “For the windows from on high are open (the gates of heaven were located at the Cardinal Points of the Earth, in relation to Jerusalem. “The ‘gates from on high’ is a possible meaning as coming from the northern quadrant), and the foundations of the earth are shaken (Planet Earth’s crust or tectonic plates are shaken, cracked and split).”

Isaiah 24:1 – “The Lord makes the earth empty and makes it waste (split it open NEB) (Look at pictures of the area around Mt. St. Helen after she erupted in a massive volcano, the earth was empty and waste, yet splitting it open suggested the earth expansion such as the expansion of the Northern and Southern Mid Atlantic ridge) , distorts its surface (“turns it upside down”. Mountain formation and Earth Crust Deformation are cataclysmic events, but “turning it upside down” suggests a complete polar reversal) and scatters its inhabitants (Man flees and human life is destroyed in all sectors of the globe).

 Isaiah 17:13 – Planet Earth is “like a ‘rolling thing’ before the whirlwind. (‘Rolling’ galgal in Hebrew is a rolling, rotating wheel or ball like object. ‘Thing’ is from the Hebrew word dabar meaning appoint, to subdue or to destroy. This is similar to deber that means pestilence, meteorites, Murrain, plague – therefore here is a rotating, orbiting planetary object which will destroy great segments of the earth, and cause pestilence, murrain or the plague in various sectors of the globe.

Isaiah 37:36 – “Then the angel of the Lord went out (here is described a near flyby of a cometary or planetary object), and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand…” (In Hebrew traditions, planetary objects have an angel.)

With this image in mind, let’s turn our eyes back to the evidence of the Giant Whirlpools that are occurring today in South Africa. On February 21, 2012, it was reported on Hainanwel website in an article titled, “An Unusually Strong Whirlpool Emerged near the Coast of South Africa” the following words:

Hainanwel – “The NASA satellite - Terra (EOS AM-1) at December 26, 2011 recorded a giant whirlpool near the coast of South Africa (see the photo at the top of this article). The width of the whirlpool is 170 kilometers and it is located a few hundred meters below of the water surface.

According to scientists, this whirlpool emerged as the water was beginning to pump from the Indian Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. This could perhaps cause a climate change at the beginning of 2012 in South America and South Africa, as well as the mass death of dolphins in the area.

Scientists cannot explain the reason for pumping water from the Indian Ocean to the southern of Atlantic Ocean, which led to the emergence of this whirlpool.  Earlier pumping of water from the Indian Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean at the end of 2011, due to which appeared this whirlpool near the coast of Africa - has led to climate change in the South Atlantic region and to the emergence of a severe drought in Africa and countries of South America in February 2012. 

A few days ago the Ministry of Agriculture of Argentina reported, that only 1% of early soybeans is in excellent condition and 48% of crops soybeans in good condition. A few days ago, the UN warned of food crisis in Africa. This drought may cause food shortages and rising of food prices around the world in 2012.”

Now what has been discovered is a monstrous whirlpool that is occurring in the Agulhas Current that rushes past Cape Agulhas from the Indian Sea to the Atlantic Ocean across the tip of South Africa. As explained, the scientists exploring this phenomenon are ‘stumped’ and unable to comprehend how this phenomenon has occurred. As discovered, the Giant Whirlpool is 90 miles across and visible from satellites.

During the upcoming era of a Pole Shift, according to earth change researchers, the largest problem that will occur during this pole shift will be massive water changes. As the tip of South Africa lies between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean, there will be gigantic transference of water from one ocean to another during the pole shift.

It is expected that the continent of India will subduct as it slides under the Himalaya Mountains. As the Indian Continent collapses or subducts, giant forces of water will be suctioned as the oceanic water is sucked first under the tilting continent and later when it settles, the waters will be forced out. As the water is forces out, the massive currents that will be formed will shoot around or over the tip of South Africa.

During the same time, it is expected that during this same pole shift, the Southern Atlantic Ocean will widen or open, as massive amounts of water will be drawn into the depths or trenches within the Atlantic Ocean. 

There is also expected during these times the rotation of Planet Earth will be completely shut down.   Yes, earth will come to a standstill as the three days of darkness during the Exodus Catastrophe that collapsed the imperial rule of Egypt at that time.  It is also expected that during the time of the three dark days, the waters in the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans will drift towards their new North and South Poles.

As we well know, water on the move leads to significant crustal and tectonic changes. Water on the move will also be forceful and highly unpredictable. During these days, South Africa will become very vulnerable as she sticks out as the torrential swirl of waters cascading around the southern end of Africa at Cape Agulhas will be caught in a maelstrom that will surely recreate a new coastline and terrestrial architecture at the bottom of the Continent of Africa.

The survivors during this catastrophe in South Africa will be those who move as far inland as they can, and may after a few days return for eye witness accounts of HaShem’s protecting hand, and how He taking “Paradise Lost” and making it into a “Paradise Restored”.

Remembering Purim: Parallels between Haman and Ahmadinejad

In the midst of a holiday celebrated in a carnival like atmosphere, the Jews yearly celebrate one moment of time in which they had to defend their national and spiritual identity.  During the Persian Empire, close to 2,500 years ago, a plot was conceived by the Viser of the Persian Empire, Haman, serving under the Persian emperor, Ahasuerus, to destroy in every Jewish person in all the 127 Satraps in a massive Persian genocide.

As recorded in the Book of Esther, the only sefer (book) in the Jewish TaNaKh (Old Testament) that does not have the name of “G-d” in it, the plot was foiled by a Jewish dignitary in the court of the Persian Shah, Mordecai and his adopted cousin, Queen Esther. In a dramatic act of suspense, Queen Esther confronted Haman the adversary against her people the Jews, before the emperor, that resulted in a day of deliverance.

This deliverance did not come by natural “acts of G-d” but the turning of the tide of anti-Semitism in the Persian Empire by allowing the Jewish people to defend themselves in an imperial world that was threatening to engulf and consume them.

So in the day of the expected genocide, the Jewish people, assisted with divinely led “fear” the G-d of Israel put in the hearts of the Persians seeking to destroy them, defended they and their families.  The Persians died who had the blood oaths of a holocaust against the Jews gripping between their teeth. From that day to this, the moment of time has been celebrated by the Jewish people as a day of feasting and rejoicing.

In that day, there was a carefully crafted holocaust plotted against the Jews by the Persian Vizier Haman. It was foiled and reversed by a noble and G-d fearing courtier, Mordecai, who sat by the Gate to the Palace of the Persian Shah Ahasuerus, and a G-d-fearing Jewish Queen who by direct intervention of HaShem, the G-d of Israel had gained full access to the inner court of the Persian Shah.

Twenty five hundred years later, after a holocaust was prevented, another Holocaust transpired and played out in its most ignoble infamy.  The Jewish “bred” Fuehrer of Germany gained control of the German nation and cast a pall across the entire world as he annihilated six million Jews. Unlike the Persian Jews who had not assimilated into the Persian culture, the Jews of Europe felt they had been emancipated with the German enlightenment brought about by the Sabbatean heresies of Shabbatai Tzevi and the Frankist Jews and their new salvation.

Out of the pyre of destruction, there rose a new nation, Israel, that today services as the protector, the “husk” that protects the “berry”, the spiritual nutrition that fuels the metabolism of their Jewish neshama souls. Though rough, coarse and sometimes crass, this “husk” defends the defenseless against those whose seek to annihilate the Jewish souls of Orthodoxy today.

So soon, one generation of seventy years (1942-2012) from the date of the “Final Solution” a new hierarchy of genocidal Persian madmen now headed by the Iranian (Persian) President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the Jew, and the demonic mullah of Iran continue vetting their hatred when they declare in multiple manifestations; "Israel must be wiped off the map." 

Once again, as six million Jews are emotionally paralyzed as they watch the Iranians craft nuclear gallows in which to “hang” the entire population of Israel, we ask will the G-d of Israel, will He allow such an event to happen? A summary of all the prophetic texts yields a simple but profound answer: “No!”.

The prophetic summary of Daniel 8 strongly suggests as do the Jewish rabbinic prophecies, that the next global war will not be Israel against Islam, but Edom NATO fronted by the military aerial power of the United States (He-Goat with a Long Horn) will destroy with great fury and “stomp to the ground” Iran. This action will also be contingent that the NATO-American He-Goat will have to “break the ram’s two great horns; the globalist Communist Marxist Mega-Powers of Russian and China. As Daniel stated, “no one can save her”. 

So as this global war that will affect all peoples around the world bears down upon us, let us ponder over the dramatic parallels between these two events. 

Parallels between Haman and Ahmadinejad

Apocalyptic Islamic Religious Fundamentalism:

It was the Persian Viser who fastened an “image of an idol” upon his chest and then strode around the Persian capital of Shushan demanding that everyone bow down to his megalomaniac self possession. The Jewish courtier, Mordecai refused and the plot to destroy all the Jews in Persia began to unfold.

So also a thousand years later, out of the sands of Arabia, an Islamic false prophet arose, whose peoples have proclaimed that they are destined today to become the “Earth Beast” of the Essene-Nazarene prophetic book of Revelation.  When Islam lashed out against the Jews who refused to pay obeisance to their prophetic oracles of death, they fell under the wrath of the first Islamic jihad:

Koran 5:60 – “Allah has cursed (the Jews) and transformed them into apes and pigs.”

Sura 2:61 – “The Jews are covered with humiliation and poverty, and the anger of God is cast upon them."

Sahih Muslim, 41:6985 – “Salvation will not come until Muslims kill all the Jews, hiding behind rocks and trees."

As the forces of Mohammed plundered, expelled and then slaughtered the Jews living in the deserts of Arabia, so today, embedded with these same Quranic oracles, the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declares; “The Zionist regime is a cancerous tumour and must be cut off.”

Legalized anti-Semitism

As it was in the days of King Ahasuerus, virulent anti-Semitism is now legalized in modern Persia/Iran today. It was the Persian vizier Haman who spent an enormous amount of money to legalize and enshrine anti-Semitism upon the laws of the Persian nation. So also we have the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who has enshrined in Islamic law the legal and religious license to destroy the Jewish people as he declared the; “jurisprudential justification to kill all the Jews and annihilate Israel, and in that, the Islamic government of Iran must take the helm.”

Haman was the direct descendant of King Agag the Amalekite, whose progeny were given birth by the breeding program that was allowed by the infamous deed of King Saul, he allowing Agag to dwell in the land of Israel, protected him, and allowed him access to the Jewish maidens in Saul’s royal harem. So today, half-bred Jews whose ancestral parents were once observant Jews have become “Jewish non-Jews” who hate themselves and carry a systemic loathing for their Jewish cousins. One of these of Jewish descent is the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad; who now seeks to destroy his own cousins the Jews of Israel.

The Willingness of Self-Sacrifice to achieve “A Final Solution”

Haman was a descendant of the Amalek King Agag’s progeny from forbidden relationships with Jewish maiden in King Saul’s harem. With this concept, he became the proto-type of the anti-Semite whose hatred is so intense that he lashes out against all Jews, not just those of his ancestral family that instituted such ignoble deeds.

With this hatred, he was willing to “bribe” the Shah of Persia with an enormous fortune of his personal wealth, for the international right to annihilate the Jews by legal genocide (Esther 3:9). With these same feelings of inferiority from their bastard births, Haman, Hitler, and A(haman)ijad were all unwanted Jews who carried in their gene pool a “genetic bred hatred” against all Jews; Orthodox and Secular Jews alike. 

Covert Operation to Thwart Jewish Genocide

Through the divinely guided emissary, who walked into the “Hall of Ceremonies” of King Ahasuerus’ Throne Room and Hall of Justice, Queen Esther was able to stop a Persian holocaust 1,500 years ago.  Just before the “last days” that began with the rise of National Israel living in the Land of Israel, the Divine One of Israel allowed such a “Holocaust” so that the international representatives of the 70 Nations of Peoples of the World would vote affirmatively to establish a national homeland for the Jewish people. At the end of the age, this “Nation” beloved by HaShem, the G-d of Israel will welcome also the ransomed, reclaimed, redeemed and restored Lost Ten Tribes of the House of Israel, so that the peoples of all present and future ages would continue to say; “Never Again!” 

Willingness to Sacrifice their own Peoples

As a descendent of Amalek, the prototype rabid anti-Semite, Haman was driven to such hatred that he wanted all the citizens of the 127 Satraps of Persia to rise up in a united front to wipe out all Jewish presence in the lands of ancient Persia. He was a megalomaniac who dreamt of taking the throne of the Persia Israelite Shah, who according to the Seder Olam Rabbah; was the same ruler; Cyrus the Great, Artaxerxes, Darius, and Ahasuerus.   

To achieve this massive genocide, Haman was willing to use armed populations and military that would destroy at least 15,000 of his Persian military and national peoples. This “ruling act” would be achieved only upon the predication that the messianic apocalyptic driven Iranian State would successfully destroy 6 million Jews in Persia.

As such the international standard of preventing a nuclear war is prevented by the concept of “Mutual Assured Destruction”. This is where no nuclear state would dare launch today a nuclear strike, fearing that if one nuclear warhead went ballistic, the “end-game” would assure the mutual destruction of both opposing countries and possibly the whole World.

Today we have one country that is guided by apocalyptic religious messianism and could soon be able a support a military weapon called the “ultimate suicide bomber”. This is when a missile that appears like a single rolled Megillah Scroll that flies through the air as a nuclear tipped missile towards Israel.

“Covert Psychological Warfare”

The main ally in defence of the Jewish people, became a defence-less young maiden who became one of the best covert black-ops agents in history; Queen Esther. She had to achieve complete access to the Throne Room of the Persian Shah. Rather than to confront her nemesis and adversary, Haman the Agagite, Queen Esther was able to reverse the imperial decree by inviting him to two banquets with the hopes and aspirations of greater power, and wealth and the destruction of the Jewish people.  She then supplied her enemy liberally with good food and alcohol so that his higher powers of discernment were thwarted and now vulnerable to the plans that Queen Esther had for Haman’s eventual destruction.

The world for weeks last fall was mesmerized by the computer Stuxnet computer virus that destroyed 1,000 centrifuges at the Natanz nuclear facility. This virus contained the code “Myrtus” in reference to the “Myrtle Tree” which in turn contained the Hebrew birth name for Queen Esther, “Hadassah”. 

So today, Israel appears to be conducting her own campaign of a war of disinformation. The former chief of the Israeli Mossad, Meir Dagan, announced that the attack on Iran by Israel was “the stupidest thing I have ever heard”? Was this a ploy to disengage the Iranians by depicting that the military resolve of Israel is softening and weakening and no longer has the military resolve to attack Iran?

So we witness the mysterious assassinations of dozens of leading Iranian nuclear scientists working on Iran’s nuclear bomb and ABM missile programs. Then we hear that the recent Israeli advance drone that would be key to Israel’s bombing operation again Iran crash and was destroyed in her inaugural experimental flight. Are all of these actually psychological warfare, throwing out decoys, so in the “Spirit of Purim”, the enemy, the Iranian government is disarmed while her nuclear weaponized bomb program is in the process of being dismantled?

So as the Jewish people complete their Purim festivities, the destiny of Israel appears to hang in the balance. Yet in reality, the G-d of Israel has promised, He will protect His own. 

So today the Persian Vizier Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, has been reincarnated into the modern Jewish Persian-Iranian President A(Haman)inejad. This modern “Haman” is trying to resurrect the ancient “blood oaths” against the Jewish people, and complete the “Final Solution” that was started by the Persian Vizier Haman, re-instituted the “Final Solution” by the Fuehrer Adolf Hitler on July 23, 1942 when the first cattle cars left with the first Jews from the Jewish ghettos of Warsaw as they were sent to their death at the Concentration camp at Treblinka. July 23, 2012 will mark the seventieth year.

Seventy years later, will Ahmadinejad complete what he feels is his divine mission; to wipe the Jewish presence off the face of this earth?   The Jewish prophets cry out a resounding, No!

The generation of World War II has gone and a new generation is now upon us.  For those with “eyes that can see” realize that we are facing an Amalek that has intentions of creating chaos around our entire globe in order to hasten the coming of the Islamic messiah, the Mahdi.  

On Purim, it is a commandment (Mitzvot) to remember the wicked Amalek and his descendants that will continue to rise every generation until the coming of the Maschiah ben Dovid (Messiah son of David). May this generation be the last generation until the Kingdom of G-d reigns upon Planet Earth.

The ax had fallen, King Achashverosh's decree - initiated by his wicked vizier Haman, the great grandson of Amalek - had been signed, sealed and delivered to the four corners of the kingdom. The Jewish people were petrified with fear. Did Mordechai and Esther embark on a diplomatic mission to convince the heads of state? No. Did Mordechai stockpile arms and maybe plan a preemptive strike? No. The entire Jewish nation fasted for three days and made teshuva.

Where are we burying our heads as Israel is looking down the barrel of an imminently nuclear Iran? In Facebook? In our new IPhone? It's really scary.

How can any Israeli complain about apathy amongst our brethren overseas when here in Israel, the army is making life miserable for religious soldiers, Tel Aviv wants to uproot the Shabbat and official Israeli government ministries actively promote gay tourism? Will this invoke Divine compassion? Rather than building Hashem's Holy Land, every week, more homes in Judea and Samaria are destroyed. So many tragically misguided voices are clamoring in revolt against Hashem, when we should be doing the exact opposite, making Teshuva big-time!

Hashem has put the Israeli military establishment in check - logically, there is no chance for an Israel go-it-alone effort against Iran to succeed.

Oh yes, Mordechai and the Jews did pick up their swords in the end, but only after they made teshuva and reconfirmed their emuna and commitment to Torah. The subsequently wiped their enemies off the face of the earth.

I wish that our Prime Minister would realize that Jewish history always repeats itself. This is the week of Purim. If the Jewish People make teshuva, Hashem will arrange that even paper airplanes become bunker busters. Our national security depends on emuna and teshuva - that's all. With emuna and teshuva, David's pebble fells any mighty Goliath, any day of the week."

Houston Jewish Academy Basketball Team banned from Finals for Refusing to Play on the Jewish Sabbath loses Championship and Wins international Acclaim

“They honored G-d’s Sabbath and He honored Them” – Houston Jewish Academy Basketball Team first banned from Texas Championship Playoff for Refusing to Play on the Jewish Shabbat Win National Acclaim

The international news was alive as excitement was rippling across the media news channels. The hot topic of the global news was “Basketball” and the “The Jewish Shabbat”. What an incredible combination of news, but it focuses on the facts that the G-d of Israel has a way to change how men perceive their world.

The focus of attention was a small team of high school Jewish teenagers who were going to be banned from competing in the Texas regional championship games governed by TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) for only one reason; they were Jewish and they refused to play on the Jewish Seventh-day Sabbath.

Like the Egyptian Pharaoh of old, TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) was sticking to its bylaws, for it was “Their Law” and refused to consider the options that America is still a free country governed by the principles of the freedom of religion, and protected by the American Constitution that is based upon the rule of Torah law and justice. 

The students, school and parents disagreed with TAPPS. It is their belief that “The Torah Law” given by the G-d of Israel stated very clearly from the Mount called Sinai with these words in the Jewish TaNaKh (Hebrew Old Testament):

Exodus 20:8-11 (parts) - “Remember the Sabbath day to sanctify it. Six days shall you work and accomplish all your work; but the seventh day is Sabbath to HaShem, your G-d; you shall not do any work…for in six days HaShem made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is within them and He rested on the seventh day. Therefore, HaShem blessed the Sabbath day and sanctified it.”

It so happened that that a group of Jewish attorneys in Dallas and New York City happened to agree also and willing gave their time and money to help these young students in a small private school sports league controversy that was quickly gaining national attention.

Nathan and Alyza Lewin, the Washington based father-daughter legal heard about the case on Monday, February 27, 2012 and contacted the Dallas based law firm of Carrington, Coleman, Sloman & Blumenthal who agreed also to give their time in support of the young basketball Houston “Stars”.

It was their opinion as reported earlier on Destination Yisra’el:

Destination Yisra’el – “The complaint says that the basketball team is "being denied, solely on account of their religious observance, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete in their athletic conference's state basketball championship tournament. That is an irreplaceable opportunity…and its deprivation constitutes irreparable harm attributable to disqualification of Beren and its team because of their Jewish religious beliefs and observances."

The legal team interviewed several of the basketball team players plus parents and then filed a restraining order against TAPPS. With receipt of the “restraining order” TAPPS quickly agreed and allowed the Friday evening semi-final game to be played before the Jewish Shabbat at 2 p.m. in the afternoon.

To the delight and amazement of the supporting and cheering crowds, the intense game finished with the Jewish Houston Beren “Stars” winning against the Dallas based Covenant Academy in the TAPPS Class 2A boys basketball semi-finals.

As Huffington News reported on the sports controversy over sports between religious and private schools:

Huffington News – “Everyone knows Jews don't dribble on Shabbos. Everyone, apparently, but the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS). The Stars, a basketball team from the Robert M. Beren Academy in Houston, were forced to forfeit from the state tournament after their semifinal game was scheduled for March 2, this Friday night -- the Jewish Sabbath -- and an appeal for a time change.

Chris Cole, the coach of the Stars, hoped their appeal would succeed after a similar accommodation was made in a Texas state soccer tournament for a Seventh Day Adventist team a few years prior, according to ESPN.

Had the Stars received a new game time -- which seems unlikely after TAPPS changed its official bracket and credited the Stars' opponents with a victory -- this would have been their first trip to the semifinals.

In a statement on the TAPPS website, the organizations notes that when Beren joined the league in 2009, they were informed that schedules for state tournaments would only be changed for weather or related conditions. The TAPPS Executive Board voted unanimously to keep the tournament schedule intact. Ironically, it is official TAPPS policy to not schedule games on Sunday in deference to Christian schools.

The Stars continue to practice in case of a new decision from TAPPS, which is facing criticism from, among others, the mayor of Houston, the New York Times reports. By Thursday, a Change.org petition in solidarity with the Stars has garnered close to 7,000 signatures.”

According to Jewish beliefs, the rule of justice centered upon Torah Law must prevail in any future society of peace and justice. As proclaimed through the Prophet Zechariah by the G-d of Israel:

Zechariah 7:8-10 – “And the word of HaShem, Master of Legions came to Zechariah, saying: ‘Judge with truthful justice and perform kindness and mercy towards one another. Do not oppress the widow and the orphan, the strange and the poor, and do not think in your hearts of wronging one another.”

Interestingly, the New York Times and the Houston Chronicle kept the Jewish basketball team on front page news for the two days leading up to the championship game held in Dallas. In an intense final championship game, the Beren Jewish Orthodox Academy basketball team called “The Stars” lost to Abilene Christian, 46-42, on Saturday night in the state championship game. As the New York Times reported:

New York Times – “The final, originally set for Saturday afternoon, was played at 8 p.m. at Nolan Catholic High School in Fort Worth.

Beren Academy (24-6) trailed for much of the first two quarters before tying the score at halftime, 19-19. But Beren failed to keep pace with Abilene in the second half, trailing until the final buzzer.”

Regardless of the final championship result, the basketball team representing the Jewish Orthodox Academy in Houston Texas was the final champion. Years from now, this one game will be remembered of that day when truth and justice prevailed, and sportsmanship was restored. Even more than that, the world for a small moment of time was cheering those students who believed the Hebrew-Judaic Sabbath was a higher calling to observe than winning or losing a sports championship. Their testimony created what would have been a forgotten game within a small state sports league where instead thousands in the international world were cheering them on with their hearts.   

When history replays this mini-drama of the fight for justice, truth, righteousness and the sanctity of the Ten Commandments highlighted by the Seventh-day Shabbat, the True One G-d of Israel with honor these students by placing their testimony in the archives of the heavenly court of justice.

Houston Orthodox Jewish Beren Academy will be allowed to play in Texas State Basketball Playoff Games

As the 1^st of March was arriving in Houston, Texas, a Jewish Orthodox Academy basketball team was being spotlighted on international news for being the denied to privilege of playing in the semi-final playoff games because the time of the game was to be held on the Jewish Seventh-day Sabbath. As Destination Yisra’el reported on February 29, 2012:

Destination Yisra’el – “In the city of Houston, the fourth largest city in America, the modern Orthodox Jewish day school, Robert M. Beren Academy in Houston is getting international headlines when their basketball team, “The Stars” won the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 2A state tournament this past weekend. They are now eligible to play to the state semi-final game, but that privilege may be denied to them because of a matter of faith and religious consciousness; it conflicts with their observance of the Jewish Seventh-day Sabbath.” 

Sabbath could end Orthodox Jewish school Beren Academy from basketball playoff game

   

As Associated Press reported on Channel ABC News titled: “Orthodox Jewish School Beren Academy will be allowed to Play in State Basketball Playoff Game”.

Associated Press – “Organizers of a Texas state basketball tournament relented Thursday and agreed to reschedule a semifinal game involving an Orthodox Jewish school after parents filed a lawsuit over the original game time, which conflicted with the Sabbath. The Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools, or TAPPS, had rejected Beren Academy's requests to reschedule a semifinals game that was to be played at 9 p.m. Friday. Beren players observe the Sabbath between Friday night and Saturday night and won't play basketball during those hours.

A group of parents with boys on the team subsequently sued TAPPS and sought a temporary restraining order requiring the agency to reschedule the game. After being notified the lawsuit had been filed, TAPPS director Edd Burleson said the association would reverse course and allow Beren (23-5) to play Dallas Covenant at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon. Should the Stars win, they'll start their championship game no earlier than 8 p.m. on Saturday…

It was early Thursday morning that the Headmaster of the school, Harry Sinoff and the basketball Coach Chris Cole heard about the legal action against TAPPS. They regretted that the denial of playing a game due to religious observances on the Jewish Sabbath had gone to the courts. As they said:

Associated Press – "It's a mixed emotion," Cole said. "We feel like we've earned the right to play. Our focus all week has been trying to get TAPPS to reschedule the game times to accommodate us. At the same time, this was not the course of action that we wanted…

The complaint says that the basketball team is "being denied, solely on account of their religious observance, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete in their athletic conference's state basketball championship tournament.

"That is an irreplaceable opportunity," the complaint said, "and its deprivation constitutes irreparable harm attributable to disqualification of Beren and its team because of their Jewish religious beliefs and observances." 

Houston Orthodox Jewish school Beren Academy will be allowed to play in State Basketball Playoff Game

   

 According to a separate Associated Report, it was reported concerning the legal action, that Richard Rohan, the Dallas attorney who filed the lawsuit, stated that the 14-page complaint was filed in U.S. District Court in Dallas about 9 a.m. It took only two hours for TAPPS to response and agreed to accommodate the suit without a court order, that had been filed against the Mansfield Independent School District where the games were originally scheduled to be played.

Rohan's firm on the other hand also filed the suit with the legal recommendation of the Washington, D.C. attorney Nathan Lewin, who is a well-known champion of civil rights who has represented Jews who have faced discrimination over the Sabbath and other issues plus former Richard Nixon, ex-Beatle John Lennon and actress Jodie Foster. 

This nationally known attorney had already been contacted 10 days earlier by the father of the Captain of “The Stars”, Isaac Mirwis and was already aware of the potential legal complication. According to Attorney Lewin:

Attorney Nathan Lewin – “I thought if we got to court there was no judge in the world who would uphold (TAPPS). No way a remotely fair judge would say this makes any sense."

Later that morning after the school coach, Chris Cole hesitantly placed the call to TAPPS claiming it was not the school that filed legal action. Later that morning a special session at the school was held when Rabbi Avi Pollak told the entire 247 student body that the basketball game had been reinstated. They would be playing in the mid-afternoon on Friday, with enough time for the game to be over before the Jewish Sabbath began at the setting of the evening sun.  If “The Stars” won the semi-finals, they would be playing in the championship game after the setting of the sun on Saturday evening at 8 p.m. 

The school went electric and excitement swept throughout all the campus. According to the coach, the phone “started going crazy”. The reversal of the decision came suddenly, for the day before they had resigned the fact that playoff was not going to happen. As Coach Cole expressed the mood that day;

Coach Cole – “We felt like we had exhausted all opportunities.  We kind of sat around, like a family, and just talked and reminisced about things that happened during the season. It was a nice, quiet time. Today's events were pretty shocking."

Beren, a TAPPS member since 2011, advanced to the semifinals by beating Kerrville Our Lady of the Hills last week. Sinoff said the school never planned legal action, even though the final resolution was what the school wanted from the beginning. "We deserve this opportunity, we've made that case all along," Sinoff said. "This is good for basketball, it's good for the tournament. These are the teams that should play."

When all the games are over, the international world will understand a little bit more about the sanctity of the Jewish Sabbath, and the dedication to their faith that these Jewish basketball “Stars” who study in a Torah observant educational campus believe, live, and will not give up even for a championship trophy. This is true dedication to the G-d of Israel.

In the city of Houston, the fourth largest city in America, the modern Orthodox Jewish day school, Robert M. Beren Academy in Houston is getting international headlines when their basketball team, “The Stars” won the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 2A state tournament this past weekend. They are now eligible to play to the state semi-final game, but that privilege may be denied to them because of a matter of faith and religious consciousness; it conflicts with their observance of the Jewish Seventh-day Sabbath.

This Jewish day academy attracted national attention after it won its regional championship meet and advanced to the state semi-finals scheduled to be held in Dallas on Friday, February 2. A modest sized day school serving about 270 students, it represents students from six Orthodox Synagogues; Ahavat Yisrael (Orthodox), Bet Rambam (Orthodox Safardi), Chabad Lubavitch of Houston (Nusach Ari Orthodox), Meyerland Minyan (Orthodox), United Orthodox Synagogues (Modern Orthodox) and Young Israel of Houston (Orthodox) plus two Conservative Synagogues; Geth Yeshurun and Brith Shalom.

The Robert M. Beren Academy provides a educational system from Elementary offering both Montessori and Traditional educational classes to the comprehensive Judaic and college preparatory education academy and is associated with the Yeshiva University in New York an yet at this moment of time, they are “The Stars” and they are not only winners but also willing to testify for their Jewish faith. As the New York Times wrote:

New York Times – “Mayor Annise D. Parker of Houston said she was “very disappointed” about the decision in a letter to the association’s director Tuesday. “It is also my understanding that TAPS teams are not allowed to play any sports on Sundays,” Parker wrote. “Which I presume is out of respect for the Christian Sabbath.”  

The organization posted a statement on its Web site on Wednesday that said it was adhering to its bylaws, which were written in the late 1970s, when “the member schools at that time all recognized Sunday as the day of worship.”

Several of Beren Academy’s opponents this season agreed to change the times of their games to avoid conflicts with the Sabbath — including Our Lady of the Hills, the team from Kerrville that Beren Academy defeated in the regional final. Our Lady of the Hills will replace Beren Academy in the state semifinal. “I do understand that Beren was able to reschedule two of its earlier playoff games this postseason,” Parker said in the letter. “It is difficult to comprehend why it is not possible at this stage of the playoffs.”

Religious Conflict Could End Robert M. Beren Academy Basketball Team State Title shot

   

Jeff Van Gundy, the former coach of the Houston Rockets and the Knicks also entered in defense of the Jewish “Stars” at the Robert M. Beren Academy when he phoned TAPPS and expressed his professional concerns:

Jeff Van Gundy – “I called because when you’re the head of an association like this, the only thing you should worry about is doing right by the kids,” Van Gundy said in a phone interview Wednesday. “This decision has nothing to do with the kids. I feel like they made a mistake and they don’t have a vice president of common sense who will tell them that this is silly and it’s O.K. to change your mind.”

The State championship series is on schedule to be played against the Covenant School of Dallas at 9 p.m. in Friday, after the setting of the sun and the start of the Jewish Sabbath. The time of the game was appealed by the Jewish Academy to the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) requesting that the time of the game be changed to no later than 3:30 p.m. Friday prior to the Sabbath observance at 6 p.m.

If they were to win the semi-final 2A title game then they would have to face a new scheduling challenge, for the State Championship Game is scheduled to also be played on the Jewish Shabbat at 2 p.m. a “sacred time” to all Jewish peoples.  Edd Burleson, the long-time TAPPS executive director stated:

Edd Burleson – “When Beren Academy qualified for the playoffs this year, they did not remove themselves from the playoffs, as described in Section 138.C.3.e, but instead played and won their bi-district, area and regional games.”

According to the TAPPS rules, if a team, upon qualifying for the playoffs, must notify TAPPS that it will not participate in all playoff games. Yet, TAPPS, whose private school teams represent a whole spectrum of religious and secular faiths, does not offer to re-schedule the championship teams for schools that worship on the Seventh-day Sabbath. In the past though, they have traditionally showed a favoritism by making sure that the semi-final and championship games do not conflict with churches that as a matter of faith worship on the Christian Sunday.

According to Samatha Steinberg, director of admission at Beren Academy, she stated that three of the other schools have been willing to accommodate the schedule change and agree to reschedule the game. The Beren Academy also agreed to pay for any costs related to changing the time of the game.

Even so, there has been a nationwide surge of support for “The Jewish Stars” from thousands of peoples from all denominations, plus financial support. Yet, the team is practicing its heart out, just in case they may serve the G-d of Israel at the same time as participating in inter-scholastic sports events with students of other faiths. According to the Houston Chronicle:

“Houston Chronicle – “Beren Academy has about 270 students at all levels and 71 high school students; about half its high school students are boys, and all but a handful play varsity or junior varsity basketball. Most attend synagogues in the Willow Meadows and Fondren/West Belfort areas of southwest Houston, and families live near places of worship so they can observe such Orthodox tenets such as a ban on driving on the Sabbath.

"We are trying to create sacred time," said Rabbi Harry Sinoff, Beren's head of school. "These restrictions are how we understand to do this. It's not in these kids to say, 'Why don't we bag this?' This is who they are."

Sinoff said taking legal action against TAPPS would be "inflammatory ... and would not be a productive way to handle this."

Yoshor, who said he hopes to play for Yeshiva University or an Ivy League school, said the 2012 Stars "are pretty good — not like Westbury Christian or Yates, but pretty good." This season's success, he said, "has been crazy. It's intense. It's all our hard work playing off." Not to be able to play Friday, he said, "would be disappointing, but we anticipated it."  As for accepting the TAPPS schedule and showing up Friday night, he said, "Violating the Sabbath is never an option."

One of the great observations that have depicted on the extensive Houston and national media is the mature attitude of the young Jewish scholars who also are very active in inter-scholastic sports.  They exclaimed that they were disappointed but understood, and yet, were even delighted in their final win. 

What was depicted most was the intense spiritual devotion to their commandments of their faith, one in which they would never deny nor falter to keep. In the end, they will be the champions for nationally they have testified to their G-d. the G-d of Israel.

Meanwhile, the Beren Academy team is continuing to practice this week, just in case a decision is reached that would allow it to play in the championship series after all.
