Six hundred thousand Israelites methodically were traversing the plains and wilderness heading towards Sinai. The grounds were still rumbling and the earth was groaning and moaning beneath their feet. It all seems so incomprehensible, so shocking, so incredible, as the memories of the catastrophic events were still so fresh within their minds.
And then there were those amazing visual images of the mountains of water piling high alongside the dry seabed of the Sea of Reeds, while the elite forces of Egypt were closing in behind them. When Moses then stretched forth his hand over the sea, the forces holding up the mountains of water were removed and the military forces of Egypt with its chariots and horsemen were churned up in the crashing sea.
On that day, Hashem, the G-d of forces saved the Children of Israel from the imperial forces of oppression that had consumed the lives of these children of destiny. As the Israelites saw the Egyptian forces washing up on the shoreline along the Red Sea in front of them, they then realized that the hand of their G-d, the God of Creation, and the G-d who chose their destiny through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, was now the G-d of their salvation. He was now the G-d of Israel.
The evidence was so overwhelming that Moshe Rabbeinu, who wrote this account in the Pentateuch (First five books of the TaNaKh (Old Testament), “and the people revered Hashem, and they had faith in Hashem and in Moses, His servant.” (Exodus 15:30)
The something amazing happened, like at the end of days when the redeemed will stand on the sea of glass before the throne of Hashem, “singing a New Song”. For the first time in history, an entire nation of people, not just its prophets, leaders, and scholars, rose in a state of prophecy singing also a “New Song” of Salvation
Exodus 15:1- - “I shall sing to Hashem for He is exalted above the arrogant, having hurled horse with its rider into the sea. The might and vengeance of G-d was salvation for me. This is my G-d and I will build Him a Sanctuary; the G-d of my father and I will exalt Him. Hashem is Master of war – His name is Hashem (“The Name’).
Pharaoh’s chariots and army He threw into the sea, and the pick of his officers were mired in the Sea of Reeds. Deep waters covered them; they descended in the depths like stone. Your right hand, Hashem, is glorified with strength; Your right hand Hashem smashes the enemy. In Your abundant grandeur, You shatter Your opponents; You send forth Your wrath, it consume them like straw.
At a blast from Your nostrils the waters were heaped up; straight as a wall stood the running water, the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea. The enemy declared, “I will purse, I will overtake, I will divide and plunder; I will satisfy my lust with them. I will unsheathe my sword, my hand will impoverish them”
You blew with Your wind – the sea enshrouded them; the mighty sand like lead in water. Who is like You among the heavenly powers, Hashem! Who is like You, mighty in holiness, too awesome for praise, Doer of wonders!
You stretched out your right hand – the earth swallows them. With Your kindness You guided this people that You redeemed; You led with Your might to Your holy abode. Peoples heard – they were agitated; terror gripped the dwellers of Philistia. Then the chieftains of Edom were confounded, trembling gripped the power of Moab, all the dwellers of Canaan dissolved.
May fear and terror befall them that the greatness of Your arm may they be still as stone; until Your people passes through, Hashem – until this people You have acquired passes through. Your will bring them and implant them on the mount of Your heritage, the foundation of Your dwelling place that you, Hashem, have made – the Sanctuary, my L-rd, that Your hands established. Hashem shall reign for all eternity!"
Will the “Death Angel” again “Pass-over Planet Earth 3,600 years after the Exodus as Planet X?
Forty nine days, from the day when the Death Angel Planet made its ‘Pass-over’ the Land of Egypt, now the Children of Israel were standing before the Mount called Sinai. The climax of their grand voyage through the wilderness was now over. After this day, they would no longer be a motley collection of descendants of the twelve patriarchal sons of the Patriarch called Jacob, whom Hashem renamed “Israel”.
Thirty-five hundred years later, we are impelled to ask, “Who was this G-d of Israel” who chose the descendants of Abraham to be His chosen people? Did He not save them from extinction from the imperial rule of Pharaonic Egypt? Were they not the ones that the Egyptians them fleeing as the unfathomable catastrophic calamities, aimed at each of the Shamanistic gods of Egypt were toppled of their power. Ra’s manifestation of god on earth in manifested form of the Egyptian Pharaoh was now with his golden chariot bedecked with gold, silver and a fabulous array of gemstones was now sinking beneath tumultuous Sea of Reeds.
If G-d chose the descendants of the twelve patriarchal sons of Jacob (Israel) to be His chosen people, then why are the Jewish people of the House of Judah, the only visible remnant of the “Twelve Houses of Patriarch Jacob”? He miraculously turned the ‘bitter water’ at the Oasis of Marah into ‘sweet water’ for all twelve tribes to savor. He gave equally ‘manna’ miraculously to all twelve tribes for sustenance in the desert wilderness lined with pumice and lava that would have destroyed any other 600,000 peoples of the gentile world, to disappear into a trail of human bones.
Yet, they all survived, not just to Sinai, but for another 40 years until the rebellious tribal fathers who refused to enter the Promised Land were laid to rest and a new generation could now enter their promised homeland. Their first mission after crossing the Jordan River was their ‘mission impossible’; to destroy one of the most fortified hilltop fortresses in Canaan called Jericho.
Yet now they stood before the G-d who chose them, and now He would at the moment of fulfillment create them into a new nation. The Torah would be their Constitution, and their covenant with Him to bring to Planet Earth a New Nation who would be destined to live differently than all other nations.
They had already been tutored in how to live the life of Torah, when at the Oasis Marah, they learned Torah lesson No. 1; a decree and an ordinance;
Exodus 15:26 – “If you hearken diligently to the voice of Hashem, your G-d, and do what is just in His eyes, give ear to His commandments and observe all His decrees, then any of the diseases that I place in Egypt, I will not bring upon you, for I am Hashem, your Healer.”
So He gave the Israelites commandments that they could become preoccupied trying to comprehend until He would soon give them the “Ten Commands” at the mount called Sinai. These laws according to the “The Chumash” included the purification Law of the Red Heifer that even the “wisdom of Solomon” could not comprehend. They were given soon after the law of the Shabbat, the Seventh-day Sabbath rest, when Manna was given to them for permanent sustenance until they crossed the Jordan border into their “New Israel”. They were given also the ‘ordinances’ of civil law, which were given, according to the Jewish sage Rashi, because they were logical, comprehendible and help them to form the most stable formation of a civilized government.
Then they were to be tormented by their nemesis for all generations until the Messiah brings forth the “Kingdom of G-d on earth”; the arch-enemy called the Tribe of Amalek. It was they, the descendents of the amalgamation of Esau’s descendants called the Edomites, along with Ishmael’s descendants that were called the Ishmaelites.
The Amalekites would only fight by non-conventional warfare attacking the traveling Israelites from behind. The Israelite warriors were shielding the vulnerable women, children and aged in the front, but it left the “soft underbelly” of Israeli defense at the rear of the column of traveling peoples.
Like the Amalek descendant of King Agag, the Prime Minister of Persia called Haman, who plotted to destroy all the Jews in Persia in one night of holocaust. It became the signature of the peoples whose genetic code was imprinted with “hatred” for Israel for all generations. The Jews were saved by one brave Jewess, Esther the Queen of Persia.
So today, Amalek has risen again to become the nemesis of the Jews in the State of Israel. We see this with the President of Iran (Persia), Ahmadinejad whose global goal and agenda is the “drive the Jewish people into the Mediterranean Sea, while Hamas, the Palestinian chapter of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood terrorists has taken the mantle of ancient Amalek; to create a Palestinian State within the borders and boundaries of the State of Israel, and then like Hitler did to Czechoslovakia, destroy Israel from within.
But the G-d of Israel had a different purpose. He was offering the ancestors of the Jews of Judah and the Lost Tribes of the House of Israel a new way of life; “Chose you this day, Life, not death”.
The reason the Israelites were taken on this journey of education from Egypt to the mount called Sinai, they were to receive the Torah from Hashem their G-d. He was their Creator and He was also the One who redeemed them from oppression and slavery in the land of Egypt. It was not His Divine plan to demand that they had to accept the Torah. They had the option to refuse.
As depicted in the narrative of the Sages in the Sifrei, and the Vezos Haberachah, and reported in the Jewish Chumash:
Jewish Chumash- “G-d offered the Torah to other nations, as well, but they all refused it because the commandments of the Torah were in conflict with their national characteristics. Esau’s offspring would not tolerate a law that prohibited murder. Ishmael’s could not live with a law that banned thievery; and Lot’s would not accept a ban on adultery. Now it was Israel’s turn.”
What G-d wanted was a “Kingdom of ministers” translated as ‘priests’ that would lead the world towards an understanding and acceptance of G-d’s divine mission; to create a world of holiness without sin. So then, G-d also wanted a “Holy Nation” which gave the implication of being ‘separate’ and not like the rest of the world’s gentile nations, but with an elevated state of consciousness that not only gave the best of a physical life, but also the best of a spiritual existence.
So with the extended blast of the Shofar, the voice of Hashem began speaking with His new people. Surrounding the atmosphere of all the people were the awesome manifestations of G-d’s Presence in the thunder and lightnings, smoke and volcanic eruptions of fire, as the Holy One of Israel descended upon the mount.
The Children of Israel were awe struck during this momentous event in history when the Almighty One gave the Ten Commands to all of the twelve tribes of Israel.
Exodus 19:16- - “When it was morning, there was thunder and lightning and a heavy cloud on the mountain, and the sound of the shofar was very powerful, and the entire people that was in the camp shuddered.
Moses brought the people forth from the camp towards G-d, and they stood at the bottom of the mountain. All of Mount Sinai was smoking because Hashem had descended upon it in the fire; its smoke ascended like the smoke of the furnace, and the entire mountain shuddered exceedingly. The sound of the shofar grew continually much stronger; Moses would speak and G-d would respond to him with a voice.”
According to the traditions of the Jews, the shofar blasts of Hashem’s voice ricocheted around the world to the seventy gentile nations in the seventy different tongues of peoples. On that day of Revelations when Hashem declared His “Ten Commands”, millions or billions of peoples around the world witnessed this event either by sight or sound.
Bringing the Shavuot (Pentecost) message to the modern age when the G-d of Israel came down to be with His people, there is one final awakening that is yet to come. Reading the Jewish literature, there is a certain sense of feeling that the Exodus experience, the Torah education in the Wilderness Yeshiva (Jewish Seminary) and their face to face encounter with Hashem, the G-d of Israel was a Jewish experience. It is rare to find a passages in Jewish literature longing for the reunion with their long lost cousins; the Lost Ten Tribes of the House of Israel.
If the G-d of Israel is the Sovereign L-rd of all Creation, and if it was Hashem, who actually mandated the exile of the Lost Tribes for their persistent rebellion, then it is the same G-d of Israel who promised in Ezekiel 36, that He will redeem and restore as He has promised to do in the collective passages of the prophets of Israel and Judah.
At the same time, if the G-d of Israel sent a Messiah to the land of Judea, to find the “Lost Sheep of the House of Israel” during the same era that the Lost Tribes of Israel were making their grand entrance into Gaul and Northern Europe, then G-d truly is Sovereign and is fully making His will manifested according to His Plan of Salvation for “All Israel”; the House of Judah and the House of Israel alike.
