America’s Israelite Queen of the House of Joseph; Elisheba Rachel Taylor better known as Elizabeth Taylor
It is true, that the Nixon administration with its Jewish Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger eventually supported Israel when an Arab coalition led by Egypt and Syria attacked Israel. According to Kissinger, Israel was to bleed awhile before the only nation of the world who would help her, America, would come to assistance. The Jew’s cousins, the Lost Tribes of Israel in Northern Europe would rather have seen her demise.
Israel pled for support from the Lost Tribes of Israel governing the nations of Northern Europe (with the exception of Netherlands) and they refused to respond. The national governments of the Lost Tribes of Israel were still in rebellion with the G-d of Israel in their refusal to help their cousins, the Jews in times of assault by Islamic states seeking Israel’s destruction. Northern Europe would have to suffer longer because of the delay for their own redemption as the G-d of Israel continued to hold back the “four winds of strife” and thereby delay the redemption of Am Yisra’el (All Israel).
President Nixon belatedly began an airlift of American arms to Israel. Israel’s rapid response in war turned her losses into her military fortunes. By the time the Americans and Russia had negotiated a truce, Israel was penetrating deep into enemy territory.
After the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Golda Meir did appoint Rabin as her Minister of Labor plus supported his candidacy for Party Chairman, thus giving him the pathway to become Israel’s Prime Minister in 1974. Now through Prime Minister Rabin, Kissinger was able to present his “Gaza-Jericho First” plan in 1976 that called for Israel to withdraw from the Gaza Strip and the city of Jericho first in preparation for a “Peace Plan with Yasser Arafat’s Palestinian Liberation Organization”.
This plan became the matrix of the 1993 Oslo Peace Accord which saw Israel redeployment from Gaza and Jericho and the days of “shame and pain” that have lived with the citizens of Israel since that day. The entire story can be read in the article titled, “Henry Kissinger, The Real Prime Minister of Israel” by N.W. Hutchings and Carol Rushton.
The Price of Oil from 1861 (1st Oil producing well in Titusville, Penn in 1859) to 2007 adjusted for 2007 dollars
Yet, the G-d of Israel also lifted His finger in anger to America, not just for what America refused to do, but for what the Jewish Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger was plotting to impose upon Israel in the future. The oil rich rulers and emirates of the Arabian nations were furious for America’s support of Israel. Détente with Russia was put on the shelf when suddenly in the war, the Arab states were supported by Russia and Israel was supported by the United States.
In October of 1973, the members of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) proclaimed an oil embargo against the United States and Netherlands for America’s decision to resupply the Israeli military during the Yom Kippur War. It immediately caused an escalation of oil prices, disruption of supplies of all goods that were transported by trucks and planes. Price inflation upon all consumable goods put America a recession. It was the first major economic event since the Great Depression; the 1973-1974 stock market crash. Even more volatile was a strong rift that was created between America and NATO where Japanese and European pacifism made America and Israel stand alone.
The Oil embargo lasted until March 1974, as mentally and emotionally America changed. The long lines of cars waiting hours for gasoline night and days as the price of gasoline dramatically rose from 18 cents a gallon to over a $1.00 a gallon of gasoline affected Americans most. So day we have amnesia of those days we try to forget; when the oil and gas that drove America’s industry and businesses were kept hostage to the Oil royalty of the Arab States. Americans became more pro-Israel and ended America’s neglect she treated the Jews during the Holocaust. The Tribe of Manasseh of the House of Joseph was beginning to return in fellowship with her cousins, the Jews of Israel.
On the other hand, the European Nations fronted by the Northern Nations of Europe that were descendants of the Lost Tribes of the House of Israel swung their allegiance to the Arab and Palestinian cause. “Oil for Peace in the Middle East” kept Europe and America hostage for the next thirty five years with Arab nations continuously trying to leverage their oil in the name of “Peace for Israeli Land”.
President Nixon instead of collapsing to a hostile Middle East, chose instead to go off the gold standard, deflated the American dollar and the value of oil collapsed. He also mandated lowering the maximum U.S. speed limit to 55 mph. to conserve gasoline and establish price controls on all food and commodities affected by the inflation that hit Americans.
But the end of Nixon’s career was about over. Watergate, the White House Tapes, turned a hostile America against Nixon and now blamed him for the war of 1973 by Arab States in the Middle East. Here was the Arab’s first effective bid to hold the world hostage to the oil commodity for they had a strangle hold over the developed nations of Europe and America. On August 9, 1974, two weeks before Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton flew off to Israel Richard Nixon resigned still defiant that he was innocent.
Probably unknown to them, the Taylor-Burton duo may have arrived into Israel in the midst of a glooming international crisis. Since the Yom Kippur War of 1973, Henry Kissinger, Nixon’s Secretary of State, was in a continuous diplomatic circuit to temper the greed and wrath of the oil producing states in the Middle East. His continuous travels coined a new word in the lexicon of international relations; “shuttle diplomacy. If diplomacy was that urgent, then it had to be against the Jews of Israel.
Negotiating some form of a truce with Russia was a challenge, but even more daunting was to enact a pull-back of some form to absolve the great military gains of Israel won during the Yom Kippur War of 1973. Whereas countries in the last two thousand years, who won a war in defense and gained strategic territory, they kept those land in repayment for the cost of defense and in retribution to prevent such assault in the future; but not so with Israel. She was attacked by the offensive forces of Islam, and now they wanted those lands back free gratis.
Over the next few years, Kissinger continued to try to forge a peace agreement with Egypt’s President Anwar Sadat in the post-Yom Kippur war era. He would shuttle back and forth between Egypt and Israel and then around to various countries in the Middle East while trying to get a broad support of consensus. This occurred throughout the Nixon and Ford administration and did result in the Golan Heights Syrian-Israeli Agreement in 1974 and the Sinai Interim Agreement of 1975.
So in April 1974, Kissinger was present in the secret meetings of one of the most secret organizations in the world; the Bilderbergs and the 1974 Bilderberg Conference that was held at the Edmund de Rothschild’s famous Mont d’ Arbois Hotel in Megeve, France. There, bankers, industrialists, internationalists, trans-nationalists plus important decision makers and media makers of the world met to discuss the effect of the 1973 Yom Kippur War upon America and Europe. These discussions no doubt affected Israel also.

The war was over, yet oil prices rose rapidly as OPEC continued her embargo against the United States as they tried to wring concessions in their wrath for America continuing to supply the Israeli military with oil and gas to defend themselves during the Yom Kippur War; to the fury of the oil rich petroleum states.
Israel though was perceived as the underlining hostage maker in the minds of many, for if Israel did not exist, all their worries with the Arab states would be over. The American dollar was being threatened to collapse as the entire world’s economy began to sputter. Just before the opening of the Bilderberg meeting, OPEC stopped the embargo as inflation was now becoming a menace to the economies of the western world.
Informal discussions groups were meeting all over the palatial hotel grounds, while informal cocktails were hosted at Prince Bernard’s Palace nearby. International tension was high when in September, 1974, President Ford with Kissinger were in intense saber rattling throughout the Middle East with the OPEC petroleum state capitalists seeking to move into drilling and refining, the exclusive realm of the western American and European oil industry giants.
It was only two and a half months after their June 6, 1974 divorce, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton arrived in Israel with “great expectations” on August 26, 1974 for a private visit. It was later while reminiscing that they admitted that they were secretly hoping on getting re-married at the Western Wall. It was just a thought, for it did not happen, for no Jewish rabbi would have conducted the ceremony because even though Taylor was Jewish, Richard Burton was not a convert of Judaism.
But was Richard Burton truly not Jewish? Taylor in her memoirs told how she was in a heated argument with Richard Burton, a Welsh Christian about who was the most Jewish. In the joint Burton-Taylor biography titled, “Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and the Marriage of the Century” by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger, this marital spat went as such:
Kashner and Schoenberger “Burton referred that the Welsh people were known as “The Jews of Britain”, in reference to their self identity as the outsiders of the United Kingdom. He yelled at Elizabeth, “You’re not Jewish at all” in one of their very public fights, “if there’s any Jew in this family, it’s me!” Elizabeth retorted, “I am Jewish, and you can f--- off!”
They toured the sites at Jerusalem that included the famous Western Wall in the Jewish Quarters of Old Jerusalem. During their stay, Richard Burton was reported to have given a special performance at the Jerusalem Theater where he was to read some chapters from the Bible interposed with poetry and monologues from the English Shakespearian plays. They later remarried in on October 10, 1975 in the Chobe National Park, near Kasana, Botswana.

During this moment of time, there may have incurred an event in which only pieces of information have been revealed. As Richard and Elizabeth were arriving into Jerusalem planning to stay at the King David’s Hotel a news article dated August 27, 1974 was reported by JTA and Global Post stating;
JTA - “A lighter touch to the tense and intensive negotiations conducted by Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger is the "great expectation" to the grand arrival of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton who are expected here tomorrow….the expected arrival of the famous pair caused some restlessness among security men here, since Burton and Miss Taylor will most probably stay at the King David Hotel where Kissinger and his entourage are staying.”

It appears that the presence of the traveling Taylor-Burton duo was a potential threat to the entourage of the American Secretary of State or the accommodations were not adequate for both. Yet an additional hint arrived in the newly released memoires of a Pepperdine alumni American Secret Service Agent Darwin Horn who was assigned to physically protect eight U.S. Presidents. He wrote in his memoirs titled, “Dar’s Story: Memoirs of a Secret Service Agent”;
Pepperdine University Graphic – “April, 1974. Horn is assigned to the physical protection team to travel with then Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger as he toured capital cities in the Middle East. After a conference with Anwar Sadat in Cairo, Kissinger and his team of agents returned to the King David Hotel in Jerusalem to a frightening discovery. Israeli police had located several Russian-made rocket launchers aimed directly at Kissinger’s suite less than a half mile away. Horn and the other agents quickly made different lodging arrangements and Kissinger was safely transported. Though terror was quelled temporarily, that incident was aforeshadowing of the events of Sept. 11th.”
In the numerous visits by Henry Kissinger and the Secret Service detail that accompanied him, it was incredulous that the presence of the American Secretary of State and the two most admired Hollywood personalities of that era were due to be residing in the same hotel without intensive screening in advance.
No doubt this conflict with three internationally known dignitaries, one national and two private, that the stay of Henry Kissinger in the same King David’s Hotel as Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor would have been covered in great detail ahead of time by the Secret Service, except for the sudden discovery Russian-made missile launches aiming at Kissinger’s suite. Could the “restlessness of the Secret Service” have been caused by this missile threat that would have also put the lives of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton at risk? If so, neither one of them knew it, and we may never know either.
Elizabeth Taylor with the Jewish People in Israel in 1983
It would be the next year (1975) that Elizabeth Taylor again made geo-political headlines, as Taylor along with sixty other prominent women in America sent a telegram to UN Secretary General Kurt Waldheim, General Assembly President Gaston Thorn and Assistant Secretary General Helvi Sipila condemning the U.N.’s anti-Zionist resolution. As the resolution stated:
Condemnation of US anti-Zionist resolution - "As women committed to the worldwide struggle for human rights and equality," it is "our unanimous conviction that all human rights are indivisible. We are appalled at the 'racist' label applied solely to the national self-determination movement of the Jewish people. We decry this implicit denial of Israeli statehood and thisincitement to world wide anti-Semitism."
The resolution is the "first and only time an authentic movement for national and ethnic survival would be condemned as racist. This resolution endangers the moral principles of the United Nations Charter by abandoning them to cynical political expediency."
During the American 1976 bicentennial gala, the world was shocked with dismay when terrorists took hostage over 100 passengers aboard an Air France flight at the Uganda airport. According to the global Jewish News Service, JTA, in the article titled, “Liz Taylor says trade me for Entebbe hostages” they spoke how quickly Elizabeth Taylor became involved in the future destiny of Israel. Taylor offered herself to be the hostage in place of all 100 of the passengers at the Entebbe Airport in Uganda.
There were many tense days, before the secret and daring Israeli rescue raid on July 4, 1976. It was at this moment of time that was to become one of the most agonizing moments in the life of Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu when his older brother, Yoni Netanyahu was killed in the rescue raid that saved the hostages on July 4, 1976, America’s Bicentennial Birthday.

The next year, the revelation of Taylor’s role in their rescue was disclosed at a gala honoring Elizabeth Taylor and her then husband, Senator John Warner on June 16, 1977 for their dedication to the JNC (Jewish National Fund) helping to “Green” Israel with the planting of millions of tree saplings in vast forests in the tiny country. Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Simcha Dinitz gave to the honorees a certificate of a forest planted in their names near Jerusalem. Ambassador Simcha Dinitz made these remarks;
Israeli Ambassador Simcha Dinitz – “Taylor’s offer was ‘appreciated’ and ‘the Jewish people will always remember it.’”
In response, Taylor shared these words as the JTA reported:
Elizabeth Taylor - "The trees we planted with our own hands in Israel symbolize a new hope that the whole world, Christian, Jew and Arab, will live as one in harmony under God.'"
A couple years later, Elizabeth Taylor signed a contract to narrate a documentary about the Holocaust called “Genocide” for the Simon Weisenthal Center in Jerusalem of which she was a member of the board of trustees. In 1980, she received the center’s highest honor with the Humanitarian Award in part for her participation as the narrator of the Documentary “Genocide” along with co-narrator, Orson Welles that went on to win an Oscar Award in 1981.
The drama around this documentary with Center founder Rabbi Marvin Hier, was included in a lively and insightful article titled, “Elizabeth Taylor: Tales from the Jewish Crypt”, into the Jewish persona that enveloped the Jewish life of Elizabeth Taylor.
If persona or personal appeal was not enough, on January 5, 1983, Elizabeth Taylor went on a one-woman peace crusade to Israel. The 1982 Lebanon-Israeli War was winding down and negotiators were preparing to meet to end the conflict.
Elizabeth Taylor with Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin
Hollywood’s and America’s superstar met briefly with Prime Minister Menachem Begin in Israel before she traveled north to Beirut, Lebanon to visit with Lebanese President Amin Gemayel. From there her plans were to continue to be present at the site of the negotiations between Lebanon and Israel at Kiryat Shmona.
In route to see the Israeli Prime Minister, Elizabeth Taylor was injured in an auto accident as her vehicle in the Israeli motorcade slid on the rainy Negev roads crashing into the car ahead assigned to Uri Dan, the spokesman for Defense Minister Ariel Sharon, as Taylor was traveling to meet with the Prime Minister. During the accident, the American actress sustained sprains to her knees, hand and body, but according to news reports, left “bearing a large bouquet of flowers from the Premier’s staff.
Five years later, in 1987, Elizabeth Taylor was also instrumental in her support of the Jewish feminist magazine, Lilith’s international quest to set free the Soviet Jewish refusenik Ida Nudel. Nudel had struggled a long battle to emigrate from Russia after being imprisoned and later exiled as a human rights activist in the later years of the Soviet Union. Nudel went to America and started later, “Mother to Mother” in America seeking to reclaim and redeem children of the Russian immigrants, take them off the streets and involve them in after-school activities.
The 80s were a quiet period of Elizabeth Taylor’s life, until the rise of the anti-Semitism began to make headlines around the world and affect the way the American military began to propagandize anti-Semitic ideology upon the American military troops. It was on October 26, 1990 that Taylor along with the American Jewish Committee and the Simon Wiesenthal Center made national headlines by protesting the United States Defense Department’s production of an official pamphlet that advised the military troops on how to speak on “sensitive subjects”.
As written up in the November issue of Harper’s magazine, a mandate came down from Defense Secretary Richard (“Dick”) Cheney and the U.S. Central Command that commanded that the American troops were to be educated and conditioned to certain prohibitions while stationed in Saudi Arabia. This included a chapter from the “Customs and Culture” troop information book on taboos or sensitive subjects of which they were not to speak about while on Saudi soil. These included "articles and stories showing U.S.-Israeli ties and friendship", plus "anti-Arab demonstrations or sentiments in the United States”, "the Jewish lobby" and "U.S. intelligence given to Israel." Part of the taboos and prohibitions were that many films or news clips featuring actors or actresses such as Barbara Streisand or Elizabeth Taylor were not allowed or banned from showing even on the military compounds.

As the world mourned the passing of the great film star legend, Elizabeth Taylor, the memory of what was so personal in her life, soon makes her life and influence in the world take on a new dimension. It was classic to the life of Elizabeth Taylor, that above all was her loyalty to her friends, that included a large part of the Hollywood movie industry that were Jewish people. Taylor for her part was already thought of as an insider.
What was most notable was the fact that she held a great respect for the Jewish way of life, even though as a gentile, she was raised with a different philosophic and psychological foundation of living. She chose to change and by it identified with the Jewish people all the rest of her life.
This respect of Judaism came early, with her marriage to her Jewish movie producer husband, Michael Todd, when she converted in 1959 just prior to her marriage to Jewish pop singer artist, Eddie Fischer. The English-American Lost Triber of the House of Israel wanted to become a part of the life of the Jewish and made no hesitation to convert to the Jewish faith. Though she was never recognized as being an Orthodox observant Jew, she kept true to the education that she received. Rather than to try to assimilate a Jew to live outside of the faith of his forefathers, she chose to live within the dictates of Reformed Judaism. This respect to Judaism went with her soul all her life.
She became a political lighting rod between the anti-Semitic hatred of Islam to Israel, yet firmly and faithfully Elisheba Rachel supported, as a "Lost Sheep of the House of Israel", the Zionist State of Israel. Here was the husk that protected the kernel, the berry inside of “Spiritual Orthodox Judaism” from extinction. She took the faith of Judaism that she was taught with herself all throughout her life, to the day of her death, where Liz was buried within twenty four hours of her death, according also to Jewish traditions in the Great Mausoleum of Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California.
Yet, to continue the traditions of her independence even from her peers, Elizabeth ordered that her body was not to arrive until 15 minutes after her funeral’s 2 p.m. start time. “Elizabeth still had the last laugh” according to her friends, as they waited for the Diva’s body to arrive.
