The G-d of Israel is Angry with Egypt
Isaiah 19:16-17 – “On that day Egypt will be like a woman trembling with fear, because Adonai-Tzva’ot (L-rd of heaven’s armies) is shaking His fist at them. Just mentioning the land of Y’hudah (Judah/Israel) to the Egyptians will throw them into panic; they will be afraid because of what Adonai-Tzva’ot (L-rd of hosts) has planned for them.”
Now we begin with the Oracles of Zechariah against the Philistines, the ancient ancestral legacy to modern Palestinians. Here in the oracle, the L-rd of hosts has a case against Damascus, Lebanon, Tyre, Sidon and Gaza. You can read about these oracles in Destination Yisra’el’s blog titled, “Oracles of G-d against the Syrians in Damascus, Hizballah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza”.
It appears that the G-d of Israel will throw the entire region into a panic. Why? Do they fear another war with Israel? Hardly, for it appears that they are taunting Israel for a fight. Yet, it appears that on the horizon as noted above that the G-d of Israel has more surprises for the Middle East.
The Fierce Power and Destruction of a Tsunami
What could be so ominous that would put fear in the hearts of the Egyptians like with panic in their hearts? One of the most interesting studies on this oracle slated to herald the final end of days before the coming of the Messiah was written in 1999 by the late archeologist Ernest Martin in the article titled, “The Damascus Phase of End Time Prophecy”
Ernest Martin – “This prophecy to all those who live in "The Fertile Crescent" begins with a time when Israel and Judah are reckoned to be in exile for their sins and when the Temple is not functioning properly. The prophecy is for the End-Time because it is a prediction of how God will in a step-by-step way again set up His domicile in Jerusalem. He gives events leading up to the seismic disturbances of Zechariah 14 that accompany the return of God to His residence in Jerusalem.
The prophecy begins with a great destruction of the whole seacoast of the Levant (the area from Hamath on the Euphrates in the far north) and then reaching southward to include all the Philistine (Palestinian) cities up to and including Gaza (Zechariah 9:2-8). It is God (not man or the armies of man) who does this prophesied destruction. It is no doubt an earthquake in the Mediterranean and its consequent tsunami (a large destructive ocean wave often called, wrongly, a "tidal wave") that the prophecy is describing”
Let us read now what Zechariah and Jeremiah have to say about this future catastrophic event of biblical proportions. As written by Zechariah:
Zechariah 9:1-4 – “The prophecy of the word of HaShem for the land of Hadrach (Syria), with Damascus its resting place: Toward HaShem will be the eyes of mankind, and all the tribes of Israel. Also Hamath will be in its borders, as well as Tyre and Sidon, though she is very wise. Tyre built herself a fortification; she amassed silver like dirt, and fine gold like the mud of the street. Behold, the L-rd will impoverish her, and He will strike her wealth with the sea, and it will be consume by fire."
Jeremiah 49:23-27 – “Concerning Damascus: Hamath and Arpad are ashamed, for they have heard an ominous report and have melted in fear. There is trouble in the sea, it cannot be calm. Damascus is weakened; she has turned aside to flee and trembling has overpowered her; agony and pains have seized her like a woman in childbirth."

Egyptian allegiance will Shift to Israel
Isaiah 19:18 – “On that day there will be five cities in the land of Egypt that speak the language of Kena’an (Hebrew, the Land of Israel) and swear loyalty to Adonai-Tzva’ot (L-rd of hosts); one of those cities will be called the “City of the Sun”.
As Wikipedia wrote:
Wikipedia – “Heliopolis was the capital of the Province of Goshen, country that comprised much of the northern Egyptian territory of the Nile Delta. This was one of three main store-city locations that grain was kept during the winter months and during the seven year famine discussed in the Joseph narrative of the Book of Genesis. The city gained recognition as a place of bread. In the time of the major prophets, Isaiah made a reference to the City of the Sun as one of the five cities of Egypt that would come to speak Hebrew."
The Jewish Leontopolis Temple in Egypt become an Altar to the G-d of Israel
The Jewish Temple on the Island of Leontopolis
Isaiah 19:19 – “On that day, there will be an altar to Adonai in the middle of the land of Egypt, as well as a standing-stone for Adonai at its border. It will be a sign and witness to Adonai-Tzva’ot in the land of Egypt; so that when they cry out to Adonai for help because of their oppressors, he will send them a messiah to defend and rescue them.”
Is it not amazing that the Jews did have a temple and an altar to G-d in Egypt. In the BibleSearcher Refection research article, titled, “The Jewish Temples in Egypt and the Zadokian High Priest Influence of the Ancestors of Jesus”, it was revealed that in the beautiful island-delta region of Egypt, a high tower temple with the same dimensions as the Temple of Jerusalem was built.
Near to the ancient ruins of the royal residence of the Pharaoh Shoshenq I, the first ruler of the 22nd dynasty in 952 BCE, a temple to the God of Israel was built. This Pharaoh Shoshenq I many archeologists believe was the biblical Pharaoh Shishak that invaded Jerusalem and looted the Temple of Solomon of many of his splendid furnishings after the death of King Solomon.
It was here that the High Priest Onias V, the first legitimate high priest of the House of Zadok, the high priest of King David, was denied the right to serve in the temple of Jerusalem by the Hasmonean kings, so moved and built an opposing temple to the G-d of Israel in Egypt. There he performed the ritual sacrifices to the G-d of Israel.
It was Flavius Josephus who was emphatic that it was this prophesy of Isaiah that inspired Onias V to fulfill this oracle of the L-rd:
Flavius Josephus – “When Onias saw that Judea was oppressed by the Macedonians (Antiochus Epiphanes IV) and their kings out of a desire to purchase to himself a memorial and eternal fame, he resolved to send to king Ptolemy and queen Cleopatra, to ask leave of them that he might build a temple in Egypt like that at Jerusalem, and might ordain Levites and priests out of their own stock. The chief reason why he was desirous so to do, was, that he relied upon the prophet Isaiah, who lived above six hundred years before, and foretold that there certainly was to be a temple built to the Almighty God in Egypt by a man that was as Jew.” (Flavius Josephus, Antiquities of the Jews, XIII, iii, 1)"
Near to the ancient ruins of the royal residence of the Pharaoh Shoshenq I, the first ruler of the 22nd dynasty in 952 BCE, a temple to the God of Israel was built. It was erected upon an island in the marshy delta of the Nile River, in the Nome of District of Heliopolis. There in service to the G-d of Israel, it rivaled the Temple of the L-rd in Jerusalem. This Pharaoh Shoshenq I many archeologists believe was the biblical Pharaoh Shishak that invaded Jerusalem and looted the Temple of Solomon of many of his splendid furnishings after the death of King Solomon.
With the knowledge that the G-d of Israel did open his heart to the Egyptian people, and say to them, I will accept your land to host my own temple, will at the end of days, be remembered by the Egyptians when in that day, they are oppressed, that they will open their heart to Him, as their Adonai-Tzva’ot (L-rd of hosts).
It was the Jerusalem Jews, in support of the usurpation of the High Priest rule by the Maccabee kings as priest-kings, who were opposed to and jealous of a rival temple in Egypt. The words, “the City of the Sun” called ‘ir hacheres, in Hebrew were changed to “the city of destruction” called ‘ir haheres. Yet, the Septuagine defines that the Hebrew translation of this text reading ‘ir-ha-zedek meaning “the city of righteousness.”
It is believed that the "five cities" of Isaiah 19:18 were Heliopolis (the City of the Sun), Leontopolis (where the Jewish Temple of Leontopolis was built), Daphne, Migdol, and Memphis.
The Egyptians will Worship the G-d of Israel
Egypt and Assyria included as part of Greater Israel
Isaiah 19:21 – “Adonai will make himself known to Egypt…they will worship him with sacrifices and offerings, they will make sacrifices and offerings, they will make vows to Adonai and keep them."
Egypt’s Chaos and Destruction will also be her Divine Healing
Isaiah 19:22 – “Yet Adonai will strike Egypt, both striking and healing, so they will return to Adonai. He will listen to their prayers, and he will heal them."
Egypt will become a Part of Greater Israel
Isaiah 19:23 – 25 (parts) - “On that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Ashur (Assyria). The Syrians will come to Egypt and Egypt to Assyria and Egypt will worship with the Assyrians. On that day Isra’el will be a third partner with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing here on earth; for Adonai-Tzva’ot has blessed him; “Blessed be Egypt my people, Ashur (Assyria) the work of my hand and Isra’el my heritage.”
What we are witnessing today is the dismantling of the old order of the world. What we will see in the future is the rearranging of the nations of the world as seen in the “stone that is cut without hands” that strikes the base of the image of King Nebuchadnezzar. This stone, recognized as Israel, will shatter the feet and ten toes made with iron and ceramic clay. It will also destroy and topple the entire image of King Nebuchadnezzar, representing the old world order.
During these days, the Lost Ten Tribes of the House of Israel will be in their Great Exodus from their two and a half millennium exile as they are redeemed and returned back to their homeland in Israel. It appears that there will be other divine redemptions on the prophetic horizon, as other nations set up their kingdom as allies with Greater Israel.
As the old order diminishes, the new order of G-d’s kingdom on earth will expand its influence over the whole earth. Egypt and Assyria will be a prime part of that kingdom. G-d will bring peace to their hearts. These thought are confirmed by Radak, a sage of Judah who wrote, “Egypt and Assyria will make peace when they realize that G-d controls their fate. Israel will be their third partner in the worship of G-d”
