Military Rabbi’s Fighting G-d’s War?
The spiritual and time honored traditions of all Jews are to defend their country from the elements of sacrilege until the Messiah makes everything whole. These traditions run deep and the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) was established within these spiritual concepts. Without a religious Jew, the Land of Israel would never have been colonized. It even took the spiritual tug upon the heart of Sir Edmund Rothschild who dedicated a large part of his wealth to buy land in Palestine for the future settlers in Israel. Yet we must realize that these facts would never have been accomplished except without a tug from the finger of the Divine and a sentimental regard for the history of his forefathers.
Even today, both the secular and the religious IDF commanders legitimize their reason for defense of the land of Israel by reminding and inspiring the new recruits of their biblical heroes. Legitimately King David was and is the greatest of the warrior heroes of all ages. Yet, we must not forget our Sumerian forefather, Abraham who with a warring military from his own household rose and in military assault took down an entire coalition of five rulers, including King Nimrod of Old, that had captured his nephew Lot from the city of Sodom once nestled in the picturesque Vale of Siddim.
In spite of such iconology of the past, the IDF have traditionally held a certain standard of neutrality in a nation of communist, socialist and secular Jews fleeing from pogroms against them, not because of their religious identity but because of their native genetic background that said that “they were Jews”.
Yet again, the pendulum of the future is that the Land of Palestine once secularized by the hatred of the Romans against a people who refused to assimilate into the greater Roman-Greco culture. Then they made the “Land” devoid of Jewish people, Hellenized and abominated all parts of the land by naming the Province of Judea after the Jew’s most poignant nemesis, the Philistines, and called it Roman Palestine.
Was it not a surprise to the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies at Bar Ilan University in Tel Aviv when they polled and discovered that a large majority of the Israeli people, secular and devout, had no ill-feelings that their IDF commanders were becoming more and more religious and proud to be observant Jews?
The fact that the secular left, who still hold such animosity towards the patriotic pioneering religious settlers in Samaria and Judea, recognize that their defense is still best served by the religious Jews. They recognize that this defense of their country against globalist and Islamic elements seeking to eliminate Jews from the Middle East and no doubt from every corner of the world can only be defended by the Jew whose spiritual, political, and ideological vision comes only from the One who called them His people on the mount called Sinai.
It is they who will not only serve in the army, but also hold down regular jobs, and visualize in their present and prophetic future that the modern State of Israel will also be a fulfillment of their prophetic destiny read within their holy scriptures. These religious Jews are mostly noted by their knitted skullcaps called kippas.
According to the polls taken by Begin-Sadat, almost 80% of Israeli were “not concerned at all” about the fact that 35% of the IDF commanders with the rank of captain or higher were religious Jews. This is a stark reminder that just two decades ago, only 2.5% of IDF commanders were religious Jews. As such a certain mystique or tradition is now becoming a norm in Jewish social culture; “Religious Jews are viewed as ‘more courageous on the battlefield or more dedicated to their military service’ than non-religious Jews”. This stands in contrast to the “fears” of the officials at the Begin-Sadat Center that religious Jews would be more prone to refuse government orders to uproots religious Jews from Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria, which the globalist have renamed as the “West Bank”.
So today, the image of the Jewish patriot and the pioneer is coming to a great divide. The secular leftist Jew is desirous in the public media to demean the religious right Jew. It is they who seek to give the land of Samaria and Judea to the Palestinian people. Not only that, the Jewish secular left, seek to defy the G-d of Israel who has promised that the land of Shomron will become the land of the inheritance of the soon returning Lost Ten Tribes of the House of Israel.
Their ignorance may become their peril, for like the Philistines of old, their new “neighbors” will return to seek to destroy the ones who gave them their sympathy and the largess of the emotions of their hearts.
These same Palestinian peoples are also those who execute their own people for living peacefully side by side with the Jewish people. They, by their own admission, will seek to drive the Jews from their Jewish settlements and homes, as they hang or execute their own peoples who are willing to sell their house or their land to Jewish people, and also promise to seek out and annihilate the Jews from the face of the earth.
Classically it is this same politicization within the Jewish media that is fueling the prominent rise of the soldier guided by spiritual idealism and loyalty to the prophetic vision of Israel at the time of the end. These were the few commanders that refused to uproot the Orthodox Jews of Gaza in the fall of 2005. They were berated by the Jewish left media with their remarks of destain.
Today, these are the same soldiers who give their lives protecting the Orthodox Jewish pioneers carving out a new wilderness home in the settlements of Judea and Samaria. The names of these religious pioneers and their patriotic guardians in the IDF will be praised for their valor in the “World to Come” for their determined allegiance to G-d’s Torah’s command to take possession of the land of the Palestinian “Canaanites”.
What is “oppression” to the dying breed of Jews whose goal is only to appease the wicked and give distain to the righteous? Are they the contrast to those heralding the new symbol of the “right” and the ‘righteous of the land” for which the TaNaKh is the guiding principle of life?
Today, the left-wing appeasers are the ones that characterize the new religious IDF as “oppressors of the Palestinians”. They are also the ones that are quick to rush through their mandatory term of service in order to get back to their lucrative jobs in immaculate suites in Tel Aviv.
These are now contrasted with the religious, biblically focused Israeli who today is making his career to defend the Land of Israel in the Israeli military. Here are a people that are gaining ascendency and will bring the “Champions of the new Tzaddikim Warrior” who like King David of old will fight beside HaShem’s forces of Light in the coming battles to defend Jerusalem and G-d’s Holy Land.
The pendulum has now passed the point of no return. As the Begin-Sadat poll depicts, the “media talking heads and academics in their ivory towers” are soon to become a vanishing breed. The fact has now been proven that most of the modern Israelis are gaining an appreciation of their new military commanders who are becoming known as “G-d’s guardians of The Land”. They have no problem promoting the rise of a military of the new Jewish Tzaddiks whose fervor to become G-d’s new Davidian warriors will be matched by their disciplined and valor not only on the military battlegrounds, but by replanting the traditions of their forefathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob upon the these same mountains of Judea and Samaria for all eternity.
