In the Spring of 2011, the State of Israel was accused by the State of Jordan of contaminating the shared Yarmouk River water resource supply with oil waste and sewage. The pollution was detected by the Jordanians as coming from the Israeli side of the Jordan River. The Jordanian Ministry of Water and Irrigation completely shut off all pumping from the King Abdullah Canal which provides 33% of the yearly water supplies in the capital city of Amman, Jordan.
The Nation of Jordan is one of the rain-poorest regions of the world and truly is in a crisis. In the past seven years, Northern Jordan received only 28% of its annual precipitation of rain. The central and southern Jordan regions received only 21% and 12% of their annual rainfall respectively.
The government of Jordan officially complained to Israel, that the contaminated water was in violation of Jordan’s 1994 peace treaty, in which Jordan was to receive daily 60,000 cubic meters of water daily from the Lake Kinneret down the Jordan River to the Land of Jordan during the month of March. This treaty agreement was also not contingent on the presence of rain, drought or the water conditions of Lake Kinneret and whether there was a continuous supply of water in the lake in which to give Jordan.
Then, according to the Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) Secretary General Musa Jamaani, the State of Israel was also, according to treaty provision to guarantee up to 180,000 cubic meters from the Kinneret to the Jordan during each spring, plus pump another 50-60,000 cubic meters during each summer.
Claiming their role to “protect the Jordanian public”, Jordan promptly discarded this polluted water into the Jordanian valley whose water run-off was then drained back into the Jordan River which then was sent down to the Dead Sea. Suddenly we see the circular and deadly decision perpetuated by both Jordan and Israel. Jordan wants a law suit, which they feel that they will win and secured the damages and ‘pocket the money’. Yet, they will allow the Dead Sea ecosystem suffer the potentially deadly consequences while critically damaging the fragile ecosystem in their own country.
Barry Chamish, an Israeli journalist has for the most part of his journalistic career taken a very active role in the investigation of the role of water politics and peace treaties that Israel has made with her Islamic neighbors in search for that elusive dream of a lasting peace. As all good journalists, he always went to the source, sought to find out all the dimensions of the story. So we shall let Chamish set the stage of the role of the Sea of Galilee in Middle East politics of peace treaties with Israel.
Barry Chamish – “So here is how the Sea of Galilee ecologically works. It is surrounded by salt streams. It does not become the Dead Sea because, unlike the Dead Sea, the Sea of Galilee has an exit at the south end of the Jordan River flowing well over a thousand feet down in a hundred miles to the lowest spot on earth, the Dead Sea. But if the Sea of Galilee loses too much freshwater, the salt streams win, turning the lake too briny and saline to support life. This level is called the Black Line, and once breached, the lake is killed FOREVER.
So now, Israel is compensating Jordan for the water it polluted. Here the crisis only is exponentially increased, for to let that much water out of Lake Kinneret, the water table may fall far below the Sea of Galilee's Black Line and the irreparable damage that it might do to Israel’s most priceless sea.
Chamish asks the question, “WHY did Israel gave away its water to Jordan in the first place? These facts don’t even discuss the water given to the Palestinians (23,000 thousand c/meters/yr), all for "peace" treaties with peoples who seek their destruction and demise.
If water was so precious, what did the State of Jordan do with the polluted Yarmuk River water? The prudent and environmentally conscious action would have been to ship the water to a treatment facility and then recycle the water. As we saw above, that was not to be! It was to be dumped into the Jordanian Valley, no doubt damaging the ecosystem there and the Dead Sea below as earlier discussed."
In order to pay back Jordan the water in which the State of Israel is alleged to have contaminated, the State of Israel will be obligated to pump water from the Sea of Galilee. The problem as Destination Yisra’el has pointed out, Israel is also in a state of severe drought and also a national water crisis; the water level on the Lake Kinneret is at an all-time low.
During the summer of 2010, the level of water reached the black line in the Sea of Galilee, where pumping the water will cause permanent danger to the entire lake. In a time of crisis, is Israel, in spite of treaty provisions obligated to drain the Sea of Galilee dry just to provide water for Jordan? Why was there not provided a sharing proposition, where in the time of drought and famine, the water in the Sea of Galilee would be shared with each other, according to the populations of each country.
Such are the complications of water crisis in the future of many nations around the world. The next war, as many scholars today now anticipate around the world will not be about oil, or rare metals, which are desirable for cultural “wants” of the modern economic age, but not the absolute need for survival, such as water.
In any case, it’s great that the two countries, Israel and Jordan, were able to solve this problem amicably, since we’ve so often seen how the environment, specifically when it comes to water, can be a thorny conflict in future Middle East politics.
Barry Chamish literally fled for his life from Israel who, because of he willingly risked his life to expose the corruption of Jewish, Israeli life. This was in the hopes of preparing a better life in the future by bringing cultural integrity back into civilized life.
Just before He literally fled from Israel for his life, over seven years ago, Chamish was invited to share a day with a colleague and admirer as they were planning to ride in a “rare treasure in Israel, a fishing powerboat” which Chamish called a “trip of nearly a lifetime.’
First it started by harvesting from cow manure an ample supply of earthworms for fishing bait. They together road the powerboat along off the western coastline of the Sea of Galilee at 3:00 A.M. in the morning, They were preparing for this “fishing paradise”. As Chamish wrote;
Barry Chamish – “It was a dark, spooky ride along the coast, passing such ghost sites invisible from land, as a 19th century sunken riverboat, until we reached the vast reeds of the Jordan River outlet. There, in the encompassing, scary darkness, I hooked the worms and released our lines. But, there were no bites. Just occasional snags. No fishing explanations.
As the sun rose, we were in the northern Jordan River delta, a place I knew well from the past. During the 1980's, I wrote offbeat stories for an influential monthly called, The Israel Digest. One story, which received massive international reprints, was about my day with licensed Galilee fishermen.
Actually it was OUR day; accompanying me was my girlfriend of the era, Shirley Schwartz, who shot lovely photos of the adventure. They sold half the reprints of fishermen hauling in their boats, hundreds of pounds of large, squirming Galilee fish, many, just hours later, frying above the charcoals of really tasty Tiberius sidewalk cafes. This was then, Sea of Galilee reality.
Today, they must import their fish. My fishing day ended with one crummy fish. I did everything right; right bait, right place, right time. I failed before my son. What did I do wrong? The fish were dead, is what I did wrong. They were not to be caught, is what I did wrong.”
Such is the cost of international peace. We thought the wars of the Middle East were all about oil, but it also devolves down into the most basic of commodities; water. As Barry Chamish confessed;
“THE SEA OF GALILEE IS DEAD; A VICTIM OF INTERNATIONAL PEACE”.
Here was the lake, popularized by the Jewish prophet and messiah. Without his presence upon the land, very few would know anything about Israel; Christians and Muslims alike. Known in the ancient of days as a tempestuous sea with a mercurial personality, we are reminded of that day, in which “The Nazarene” as he was known, was traveling in a classic 1st century Israeli boat that was owned by one of his own disciples, to traverse the lake from one side to the other when they were caught in one of Galilee’s violent storms and torrential rains.
Here today is the cost of generations of Middle Eastern peoples, including the Israeli, who have focused on the whims of international peace. They have sought to placate the demands of the insatiable diet of the Middle Eastern Muslim nations for “Dollars for Oil”. They have also sought to satisfy the insatiable diet of the Western Christian nations prepared to “rape the earth” for the modern conveniences of civilized living. They all have failed to be the “guardians and custodians of earth” as was given in the mandate to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
This is not the fault of one people, Israel, as all nations blame. It is the failed responsibility of all mankind, who lust for power, greed, and control. Then we begin to think that we are the “kings of the universe”, a special people created to satiate our own lusts and desires.
So today, the popular fish of Galilee that has become a international sensation of culinary delight, is the fish called Tilapia. This is a native Israeli fish that lives in the Sea of Galilee, and is today known in Galilee as the “Apostle Peter’s Fish”.
We fail to consider that this was the staple diet of Jesus and his disciples, and provided the context to understand well the Jewish and Galilean fishing culture in Galilee in the 1st century CE Roman Province of Judea. These peoples were not just Jews but were a mixture of the bloodlines of Jewish families that also represented the ancient lost culture of the Ten Lost Tribes of the Northern Kingdom of Israel.
To today, the Netanyahu government has now begun to enforce a total ban on fishing in the Sea of Galilee until a staple and reproducible nature resource of fish can be restored. This may be only seen in the context of life in the Land of Israel, or in the light of peace and international relations.
This concept of preserving the ‘Land” also can be seen in the light of the biblical prophets and the restoration of the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel, when the G-d of Israel spoke through the pen of Ezekiel the Prophet;
Ezekiel 36:6 24- - “Therefore, prophesy concerning the Land of Israel and say to the mountains and to the hills, to the streams and to the valleys, ‘Thus said the L-rd Hashem/Elohim: I have lifted My hand, that the nations surrounding you will bear their shame, but you, O mountains of Israel will give forth your branch and bear your fruit for My people Israel, for they are soon to come…
I will make people numerous upon you – the entire House of Israel, all of it; the cities will be inhabited and the ruins will be rebuilt. I will multiply man and animal upon you, and they will multiply and be fruitful; I will make you inhabited as in your earlier times, and I will make it better than it was at your beginning… I will cause man to walk upon you – My people Israel – and they will inherit you. Then you will be theirs for a possession, and you will no longer be bereaved of them…
Thus said the L-rd Hashem/Elohim: It is not for you sake that I act, O House of Israel, but for My holy Name, that You have desecrated among the nations where you came….I will take you from among the nations and gather you from all the lands, and I will bring you to your own soil…I will put My spirit within you, and I will make it so that you will follow My decrees and guard My ordinance and fulfill them. You will dwell in the land that I gave to your forefathers, you will be a people to Me, and I will be a G-d to you.
On the day when I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited and the ruins will be built…People will say, “This very land, which had been desolate, has become like the Garden of Eden; and the ruined desolate and demolished, cities have been fortified, inhabited! The nations that remain around you will know that I, Hashem, have rebuilt the ruins and I have replanted the wasteland; I, Hashem, have spoken and I shall act.”
This “Land” is to be restored to a “Land of Milk and Honey” as the G-d of Israel promised at the time of the end. It will have dramatic environmental changes as prophesied by the ancient biblical prophets of both the Lost Israelites prophets in the north and the Jewish prophets in Jerusalem to the south. The land will be prepared for the arrival of the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel at the “end of the age”, the “latter days, or the “time of the end”. It would also be a day in which the “Land of Israel” will be prepared for the restoration of a “global village” not ruled by a global elite, but by the Jewish King Messiah and His ruler, King David son of David.
Argue as much as you want, trying to compress our images of the “World to Come” into an other-worldly planetary existence, yet these images are contrary to the ‘Thus saith the L-rd that was given to the prophets of Israel in dreams and visions from the G-d of Israel. These prophesies were of a future Age of the Messiah that will be here on terrestrial Planet Earth even while some may be privileged like Moses and Elijah, to live in a celestial life near to the throne of the G-d of Creation.
Strange as it may seem, this final era of man’s dominion of sin over earth is about over. As we are looking around, we are exploring, learning, defining, and beginning the regulatory process of living a life of civilized peoples preparing to live in a future world of peace, under the dominion of the Messiah. And yes, He will rule with a “rod of iron”, teaching us all the ways of living the life of Torah.
This will be a Messianic One World Order in which global rules of conduct, life, and social order first given on the mount called Sinai, will prevail in which all men will follow; a life of Torah. They will also allow the birds, flowers, animals and fish to prosper and become a vibrant part of our total culture of peace in the future Age of Messianic Enlightenment.
Today, the government of Israel blames the fishermen for destroying the fish environment and culture in Galilee, but this is not just the fishermen’s fault, it is the fault of any civilized culture who fails to preserve all parts of the environmental culture for future generations. This is about petty politics gone awry of a people who have forgotten that they are the custodians of the “Land” that the G-d of Israel calls His own.
At the same time, this is the land that will become the future inheritance of the Lost Ten Tribes of the House of Israel, as promised through all the ancient prophets of Israel and Judah. Yet, as Chamish wrote:
Barry Charmish – “Forget the blame for the disappearance of close to all fish life in Lake Kinneret. There were likely far more fishermen in biblical times than any time in the past ten years when fish stocks dropped from typical to nearly non-existent. They are not the cause of the Sea of Galilee’s death or a combination of global warming and "peace"!
As for the drought coinciding with "peace," darn the timing or it was divine intervention. Choose whatever you feel comfortable with. The core fact is, the Sea of Galilee was doomed anyway by peace.
I knew that way back in '94 when I interviewed the water negotiator for the Israel-Jordan peace accord: The truth is that the Kinneret is drying up from the activities of the "peacemakers." I should know.
In 1994, I interviewed the chief Israeli negotiator of the Water Treaty between Jordan and Israel. Back then I was the Israeli correspondent for a London company called the Gemini News Service. Thanks to them, my work was published widely throughout Third World newspapers.
I noticed a newspaper quote about the water negotiations from Yaacov Tsemach of the national water company, Tahal. It caught my eye because a Yaacov Tsemach was my really good, longtime army buddy. I admired his sharp wit and, a rarity among Israelis, great sense of humor. So I called Tahal and to my total delight, it was my buddy on the line.
We arranged to meet and got along like old times. He was the assistant to the chief negotiator of the water sections of the then-building, Israeli-Jordanian Peace Treaty. I asked if I could interview the negotiator and he said he'd put in a good word for me. Well, a good word from Yaacov did the trick. If I agreed to keep the negotiator's name anonymous, he would meet with me within the week.
We met at a Tel Aviv restaurant and he began, like all good bureaucrats, handing me graphs and surveys. In retrospect, I've wondered why I brought out so many sources, but the truth must be, the rest of the media were selling "peace" and I was looking where they chose not to enter. The bar graphs showed a lot of blue above the "red" line of the lake over 30 odd years before the Treaty, then it sunk after the proposed "peace" agreement. I, naturally, asked what happened.
The negotiator ordered a drink, then shortly after, another. With “teary” eyes, he began to speak: "I sure hope our leaders know what they're doing," he said. "Because if they're wrong, the Kinneret will disappear in a generation. Within twenty years, it will be nearly useless for our water needs." I asked what he meant. He then gave me the title of my Gemini article, "Giving Away Dream Water."
Chief Negotiator of the Water Sections of the 1994 Israeli-Jordanian Peace Treaty – “The government is going to give away 50 million cubic meters of lake water a year and they ordered me to find it. I'm giving away dream water."
The negotiator told me where he went looking for the water. "There are brackish streams on the west of the lake. We'll give that away. We'll dam the Yarmuk and give that water away."
In the spring of 2011, the “near miracle” of the large snowfall that came down upon the Golan Heights' melted in March. The Jordan River, the Hula Lake and the Sea of Galilee were filled with adequate clean water that served the needs of the populations of Israel and Jordan until the following spring. Looking back over the prior three decades though, it was in the 1950s, just after the Declaration of Independence of the State of Israel that the Israeli government made the fateful decision to drain the Hula Lake in order to plant more avocado groves. With more avocados to eat, the tradeoff was a dry lake, an endless stretch of “methane fires, rat infestations, and ecological devastation from the dead lakebed.”
The prime homeostatic reservoir at Hula that filtered the bacteria tainted water supplies pouring into the Sea of Galilee and were filtered first by the Hula Lake, now without its ecological filter poured directly into Lake Kinneret. It then flowed directly out of the southern exit into the Jordan River and then cascaded down the Jordan River into the increasingly polluted Dead Sea, 100 feet below sea level. The entire system designed by the Creator to provide clear water for His people, was now becoming an environmental catastrophe as the filtering system was first broken down by the early demise of Hula Lake.
Looking early on in the history of man’s tampering with earth’s wonderful filtering system, Barry Chamish was able to also see the destruction of Israel’s third largest lake by the tragic decisions of Israel’s government. Let continue with Chamish’s story:
Barry Chamish – “Before we get the cold, hard facts, another disturbing story; the lost tragedy of Israel's third biggest lake, Agam Baruch. Situated just below Mount Megiddo in the Jezreel Valley, there once was a significant lake formed by damming the source of the Kishon River. I discovered it during an army training exercise in 1980. Soon after, I turned it into a beloved fishing and camping spot for over two decades. Oh, the stories I won't tell...but the fishing was just as good.
In 2004, I returned with my son for a weekend of fishing and camping and what did we find? The lake, from one end to the other, was covered in belly-up white. All the fish had been poisoned. The big, the small, the tilapia, the eels, the catfish, the carp, were all dead.
We returned in 2005, me anyway, hoping the lake had recovered, and found the lake was drained, now a puddle, not even a lagoon. Yet fishermen surrounded the puddle, throwing in their hooks, with not a fish anymore alive. I never discovered if the lake was killed by terrorism or by accident, but Israel's third largest freshwater body, like its second, the Hula, is gone forever.”
So today, the pollution and death of the Sea of Galilee, according to Barry Chamish is nearing its terminal end. He mulled over its history from antiquity, when the Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob lived, breathed, and enjoyed an abundant life, because of the miraculous water filtering system the G-d of Israel had provided for His people. Later when they came out of captivity and began their long and fruitful history that culminated into earth most glorious Golden Era in history; the United Kingdom of Israel under Kings David and Solomon.
Even the prophets of Judah and Israel spoke of an era in the distant future that would eclipse the Golden Reigns of Israel two illustrious kings. This future Messianic Kingdom would be under the rule with a “rod of iron” of Hashem’s Messiah son of David. The effects of sin and the results of human’s imperial lust for power, greed and control will be reversed as the “Messiah” will reign over a future Era of Torah Enlightenment in a Paradise called Greater Israel with His appointed King David son of David.
This will be an era in which the “Mountains of Israel” in Shomron (Samaria) and Judea will be restored to a “Land Flowing with Milk and Honey” (Ezekiel 36) waiting the Restoration of the Lost Ten Tribes of the House of Israel. Not only that, this same land, Galilee, the central regional mountains of Samaria will also be transformed into a new Gans Eden (Garden of Eden).
How the remodeling of the tectonic plates of Planet Earth, and now the ever increasing earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, will reshape this Planet Earth with possibly a Pole Shift is not to our complete understanding. One thing that is certain; the mountain river called the Yarmuk will someday again be flowing with an abundance of water, the Hula Lake will get a biological cleaning by the healing power and glory of G-d’s Messiah. The Sea of Galilee, the nearby Lake called Agam Baruch will be brimming fish and wildlife of abundance.
Even the Dead Sea will be revived and restored as the Gihon River will again erupt from under the Temple Mount and will bring life giving water not just to the Dead Sea but to the restoration of the 1/3rd remnant in the lands of the former Garden of Eden in Babylon. Yes, all the regions that Kings David and Solomon ruled from the Nile River and the Mediterranean Sea in the west, to the Great Rivers of the Tigris and the Euphrates Rivers in the east. This land will flourish also with “milk and honey” when this large stretch of parched desert land will once again become parts of the restored Gans Eden and thehomeland of the “Lost Sheep of the House of Israel”. We are reminded of the visions of the future Gans Eden on earth through the eyes of the Prophet Joel:
Joel 3:18 - “And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with water, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the Lord and shall water the valley of Shittim.
While today, the Land of Israel is struggling for its survival physically, spiritually, and ecologically, in the future, the messianic imagery of that future era of pristine abundance was depicted by the Apocalyptic Prophet called Israel. He spoke of an era in which the wildlife again will be living in new and pristine environments. They will be tamed by the “Presence” of the Divine Forces when all humans and even animals will bow before the Presence of G-d and even the wolf and the lambs will cohabitate in peace with one another.
Isaiah 65:17- - “For behold, I am creating new heavens and a new earth; the former (events) will no longer be recalled and will not be taken to heart. Only rejoice and be happy forever for what I am creating; for behold, I am creating Jerusalem as ‘Gladness’ and its people as ‘Joy’; for I will rejoice over Jerusalem and exult with My people, and there will no longer be heard in it the sound of weeping and the sound of outcry.
Never again will come from there a young child or old man who will not fill his days for the youth of one hundred years will die and a sinner at the age of one hundred years and be cursed. They will build houses and inhabit (them), they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit; they will not build and have another inhabit, and they will not plant and have another eat. For the lifetime of My people will be like the lifetime of a tree, and My chosen ones will wear out their handiwork…
Wolf and lamb will graze as one, a lion - like cattle – will eat straw, a snake’s food will be dirt; they will not inflict harm nor destruction in all My holy mountain, says Hashem.”
The glorious and manifested Presence of G-d will reign over all the Earth. As the Sea Beast of Revelation 13 rises and falls, the gold absconded from the Rothschild’s control of America’s Fort Knox, will now be under the control of the Messiah in Jerusalem. The Shekel of Israel will be the currency of the future Messianic Age. There will be no longer any Knight’s Templars, Illuminati, Shabbatean Jews, the Zoroatrianism dualism of Black and White, the White and the Black Dragon Societies, nor the Vatican’s White or Black Popes. The 3½ year rule of the “Messiah the Prince” will be over.
The European Bilderbergs and America’s Council of Foreign Relations will no longer rein havoc over Israel and the earth. The Freemasons will no longer reign over the State of Israel. The Russians in control of the KGB/SFG’s Scalar weapons will no longer be able to threaten the Russian Jews and the State of Israel. The Scalar dominated Japan’s ancient Bushido Code culture of revenge will be tamed by the loving presence of the Messiah who will now demand righteousness and integrity to be shown to even the poor, the widows and the orphans. No longer will they use their “Super-secret Weapons creating Collapsing Environments and a Global Famine” and they seek control over the whole earth.
Neither will the Christian Dominionists and their Black Ops military forces of Blackwater’s Dominionist Christians Warriors now called Xe be allowed to take possession of the world for the return of their False Masonic Messiah. Together, under the influence of the Neo-Coms of America’s State Department who are seeking to make “All Nations One” by the Hegelian Dialectic Theory, these forces will consume one another until even Communist China and Russia will be one of the “whole” participating in the control of the whole earth.
When the Messiah does come, He will prove to the rabbanim of Judah that He is the author of the Torah from Mount Sinai and the Restoration of All Israel; the Lost Ten Tribes of the House of Israel and the House of Judah under the guidance of the Rabbanim of Judah, will be complete. The Dark Forces of HaSatan will be chained in the “Bottomless Pit” that once housed the evil angels under the rule of the “Chief of the Spirits, called Mastêmâ”. These were the demonic forces left by the Nephilim and the Giants of Old whose physical bodies were destroyed by the Flood of Noah yet their Spirit bodies remained to torment mankind. Environmental destruction of G-d’s natural resources will no longer be under the control evil imperial powers raping the earth and taking control of all the water resources, the oil, gas, free energy and rare earths.
Is there a “Light at the End of the Tunnel? There absolutely is! Will the Sea of Galilee die! Maybe! But the forces of light with the return or the revealing of G-d’s Messiah will redeem, restore and revive the Lake called Kinneret back to its illustrious state as the water reservoir purifier prepared for the return of the Lost Ten Tribes of the House of Israel and their Messiah who brought them back home in Torah halakhic fellowship with their cousins the Jews of Judah.
